What's the going rate for a pair of milled 45's in this market? I dont really need them right now, but all my plates are a mix of modern and milled Yorks, so it would be a PITA if I ever had to switch plates to something with a non matching diameter. Seller is asking $180 for this pair. He indicates they have no cracks but were "pretty rusty" a year ago when he acquired them and he cleaned them up with 3-in-1 oil.
3 years ago I spent $1.20 per lb for a pair of milled 45's and two pairs of wide-letter milled 35's.

There really isn't. You can weld the head back on the grip, or you can cut off the heads and sell them as blobs. When you buy roundheads you should put them down on concrete and listen for a ringing sound, which will tell you if the head is going to separate from the grip.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Aw, man. You were the guy I was hoping would have some magical solution. Lol. Well, thanks for the purchasing tip anyway.
I knew this one was loose and bought it anyway, because of the cheap price and my inability to walk away from York. It's only 30 pounds though, and I know some people like those baby blobs, but Im hesitant to make15ish pound blobs. I'll just use it for some accessory lifts and avoid overhead.
Thank you!

Found this 15 bun, sure I’ll never find another, but couldn’t pass it up. Was in PIAS, Also grabbed this 5. They were charging 1.79 per # for used iron plates, bun was 1.50 per #. Price gouging for sure and they had a bunch of used iron plates. The pandemic is over as far as equipment goes. Almost left the 5 behind, but had to rescue it.

In the last month I've picked up another pair of York speed collars and a really nice OB-84 and collars for very fair prices from the local PIAS, among other more common things. Prices here are heading south, but still over $1/pound for used plates. They a number of milled Yorks and unbranded Ivankos, but nothing I needed.

This particular PIAS has always charged more for things. They have a hammer high or front pull in the store listed for 1600. That is way over the market price. They also had one of those continuous motion machines they were trying to sell for 8000 I think. It’s gone so they must have sold it.

The problem is around $1 per lb is the norm for Craigslist/Marketplace, so naturally they need to charge more to cover themselves. Play it Agains are also pressured to buy a lot of new merchandise to stock their stores with. When they pay retail themselves, they of course need to charge more to cover wages and facility costs. They're probably not even making a profit, but it gets more people in stores and keeps them there longer.
For an initial gym purchase, not worth it. But for scouring vintage items I'll gladly pay $1.50 per lb.York History - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dbRIGo0tZlrume27s3jusN2gtuEfLgQXOt1UPTZUfnI/edit

Thanks, I did actually look that way, but if there's one available in 3/4" coarse thread I haven't found it yet. Fastenal/McMaster/etc. haven't turned anything up, but I might not be using the right search terms either.
I did find some similar bolts available on ebay, but they're all for the smaller standard York collars.
