Did you re-blue the shaft? Did you take the sleeves off, and did you notice any markings on the inner collars with the sleeves removed?

I like the knurl on my power bar as well. Great grip for not being very aggressive. I'd love to find one in that condition to replace mine though!!

    Edit- Sweet Jackson's too!!

i didn't re-blue it. the sleeves were a little roached when I got it but the shaft was virtually rust-free. I did remove the sleeves. didn't see any markings. the sleeves barely spun because they were so gummed. previous owner probably flooded them with wd40. I just cleaned and oiled them with 3n1. They spin great now. One strange thing - the donuts were much easier to remove than those on my other bar (had to hammer those off). I thought that they came off almost too easy on the power bar.

When I first looked at that picture I didn't notice it was rotated and thought that was horizontal storage. Looked at your other pics too. Digging the plate and bar storage you made.

the Jacksons are standard size 10's Some years ago, I picked up 2 pair included in a mixed bag of plates that a guy had rotting away and burried in weeds behind his house. I didn't know what I had at the time. I didn't much care, just wanted plates to make dumbbells. Amazingly, they had almost all the original paint and only a bit of surface rust on them here and there. They stood out to me for this reason so I held onto them. Turned out to be a good idea.

Picked up an old preacher curl stand yesterday for pretty cheap. The post had been welded by a monkey at some point and is pretty useless. I just wanted the base anyway to make a chalk bowl stand out of it. Here is what I've mocked up just using some PVC I had laying around the house.

Thinking about metal pipe for the final product with maybe some hooks welded on the sides to hang bands, etc.

Nice. What did you do with the rest of the curl bench?
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Still have it. The only thing still good on it is the pad, and even then I'd have to check again on that. If anyone needs it PM me. I have no need for it. The post is a lost cause. I'm guessing they lost the pin at some point, and just welded it the extended position.

    Hi All,

I think I have read every page of the first thread so I am hoping to be able to contribute to the second thread. Atty, I would like to respectfully request a YBBC number. I have attached an image which I believe shows I am a serious (or lucky) York collector. Also Atty, I posted a picture of an unknown bell on the Vintage thread to which you replied "RARE, VTG, HTF". Do you have any more information on that piece? I also attach an image. Thanks!

6kbar, you are a lucky guy. I will talk to BoHo and see if he agrees, but you're not only brought your A game, but your A plate and your DDs. You might want to try over at IH to get the bell identified. Much of the history of the old bells is lost to time. But they will have an answer over there.

I have 4 bars with 2 being York bars. One is a 28 mm oly bar and the other is a 29mm power bar. I do not know the history of the 2 bars but I doubt they are very old.

This is another pic of my bars. The first bar from left to right is the Rogue Rich Froning Bearing bar 28mm. The next is the york 28mm bushing bar. Third is the 29mm York power bar. The fourth is my old 28.5mm Billard bar. I really like the York power bar knurling. The bar I used in my Smith machine half rack is 30mm.

How much are the york round head dumbbells usually going for? Price per pound. I found a few by my area and wonder what I should be paying for them if they are a good deal or not.

    Tree-fiddy

Roundheads are a little different than normal Dbs. The availability and location can determine the value. The larger Dbs can go for a little more due to rarity. What is the asking price?

It's a satisfying feeling to make American Iron look good again. Nothing worse than some amateur taking a paint brush and paint to these plates. Leaving them rusty is preferable to a bad paint job.

Will do - at a softball game right now. Only left it on for 30min on the first plate and it took most of the paint off. Highly recommend it so far. This will be on for a few hours.
