Found my first "set screw" bar today. Set screws, screw on donuts, and no markings on the collars. The collars/sleeves are a bit rusty (and should clean up nicely), but boy is that shaft CLEAN! All of the original bluing still on there, and the knurling is immaculate. Crap lighting, but wanted to share.
The other two bars are old Capp's TPB's in great shape that I picked up tonight also. These are the older style with the stamped/engraved logo in the ends.

Lol.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I hear you. If I dump the Weider weights on CL the pair of Yorks should be close to free. Trying to decide on what to do, the old international weider plates to my surprise were pretty accurate. Within 0.2 to 0.4lbs off, but all pairs were EXACLTY the same weight. Kind of like the old look of the Weider weights.
Now the big question, to paint or not to paint?▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #58 ▪█─────█▪

They might clean up fairly okay with some oil and a rag. I did that with one pair I have that was worse off than yours. The others I painted - I like both.

Supposed to rain for the next 7 days here in Ohio, so I got bored and decided to go ahead and paint the new (old rusty) York plates. They turned out so well I painted the ancient Weider's to match, not too shabby!
Two coats of rust prevention primer
Followed by 2 coats of finish
Finishing touches on the lettering!
Weider's to match, just may keep them now

nice painting setup, way better than what I did. Those Weiders are cool too.

Thanks! My initial setup was cardboard on grass, but I quickly realized that I started too late in the day and wouldn't have time to properly let them dry before flipping. So i used my homemade dip bars and a couple saw horses. Worked really well, being able to rotate them during painting made it easy to fill all the grooves.
For those interested, a tip on painting the lettering. First coat went on sloppy, you could see brush marks pretty bad and I thought I had gotten in over my head. So I did a light coat and followed up with a second about two minutes later, and you couldn't even tell it was done with a brush. This has me thinking about painting my G2's now, the original paint job on them was terrible. LOL▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #58 ▪█─────█▪

Nice yeah I had the same problem but just let mine sit overnight. Next time I will buy some PVC and some saw horses if I have a fair amount to do. May do that to refinish my smaller plates...stripping was was hard part for me.
I used a white paint pen for lettering. Two coats(one after drying) worked pretty well. Otherwise I probably would have used a sponge brush.
The black I just did with Rustoleum painters touch which includes primer."Yea, though I farmer's walk through the valley of the shadow of deadlift, I will fear no repetition: for the power rack art with me; thy plate and thy barbell they comfort me."

White pen sounds like it would have been alot faster, I got a fine brush and really took my time painting the tops and sides of the lettering. Was lucky enough to find a super cheap can of premixed gray in the clearance section at Lowes, although for some reason it dried close to white (probably why it was returned).
If I were to re-paint the G2's I probably wouldn't completely strip the paint, I found with painting my bench the paint sticks better when I just removed the bad rust and roughed up the surface of the old paint. Been a couple years since I did my bench with Rustoleum and its held well, it will be interesting to see how the paint holds on these plates.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #58 ▪█─────█▪
