From my understanding, the mattress campaign was a part of her visual arts senior project. If this does turn out to be falsified, then she's incredibly heartless and selfish. Though, rape is incredibly difficult to prove since it turns into a "he said, she said" ordeal, but the ******** message do not look good for Emma.

Either way, she's made more people cynical towards rape accusations now (as seen throughout this thread).

Right, which is what makes rape cases so difficult to prosecute. Most rapes happen between people that know each other (friends, acquaintances, etc.). The vast majority aren't what's depicted on Law & Order with a sketchy alleyway and a guy in a black ski mask. Because it's people that already have a mutual acquaintance, it becomes a battle of "he said, she said." A district attorney, or Columbia in this case, won't seek charges if there's reason for doubt. From my understanding, a student goes to Columbia's Health Services/Public Safety and then they decide whether or not to get the NYPD involved. Or, the student may go directly to the NYPD.

None of the alumni of the Misc School of Law know what happened, and neither does any of the public. The only two people that do know what happened are Paul and Emma. And, because of that it comes down to who is able to get their story across more.

I haven't followed this story much but the guy didn't get any jail time or anything, right? He just got shamed. This girl will also get shamed. EVERY single time an employer or friend Google's her name, the first link that will come up will say something about her false rape accusation. The school will probably also bring her in as a responsible 3rd party.


Another good thing is schools will think twice before letting this kind of garbage flow around their campus.
