    Converse to Adipowers

Hey guys, a little background in myself.

Been running 5/3/1 for the last 10 months with excellent results but still find myself uncomfortable with loads greater than 90% of my 1st, primarily from my bodybuilding background. I've been reading his beyond 531 and gonna switch it to hitting the compounds 2 a week with different assistance.

I have always worn chucks but thinking in of picking up a pair of those adipowers that everyone raves about for squats. My question is I see it has about a 3/4 of an inch heel - would it be really uncomfortable switching? The cheaper version the 2.0 I think has a 1/2 inch heel. Should I go with thay shoe first to get used to the increase in heel size?

I've familiar with both will be uncomfortable at first but you'll get use to it quick as with most things layman explanation but no reason to complicate it

at first you will really get thrown forwards on your toes. have to focus on sitting back wearing them.

eventually you get used to it and dont even think about it

For shoes, the type of squatter you are makes a much bigger difference than background and program you are running.

There is going to be an adjust period if you never squatted in an Oly shoe.

I know for me it took a good bit of time to get use to the new mechanics wearing them. I've switched back to a flat sole shoe and prefer it over the Adipowers. Give it time and be patient if you decide to go with an Oly shoe.

People obviously have different experiences with how they feel in gym shoes but for me there was no learning curve switching to adiPowers. It's as though I was "meant to wear them" or something. They felt great right away. I have very good ankle, knee flexibility and never had a problem leaning forward and rarely lose my balance so that might factor in. I squat high bar most of the time so that's another variable. You're going to love them for front squats!

"I was laying in bed one night and I thought ‘I’ll just quit — to hell with it.’ And another little voice inside me said ‘Don’t quit — save that tiny little ember of spark.’ And never give them that spark because as long as you have that spark, you can start the greatest fire again.”

I recently switched from flat soled sambas to Addipowers.
I like some others here squat high bar with a relatively narrow stance and they are great for that.
I do have an old pair of addis WL shoes with a very high heel and didn't use them that much because it didn't feel that good on my knees.
Kind of like when bodybuilding and squatting with heels on a 2x4.
You must keep a fairly upright squat stance.
I think the 1/2" heel would be a good choice for you.

Something to keep in mind about all of these opinions is, they are just opinions. Everybody is going to have a different opinion on what shoes they like best. The only thing you can really do is get a pair and try them out for yourself. Some people will adapt to them very quickly, others will take more time. This will depend on a lot of factors.

Personally, I lift in Romaleo's, version 1. I like them and have been lifting in them for 3+ years, 4-6 days a week, and they are still in excellent shape (Olympic weightlifter). I can't compare them to the Adipowers, because I've not lifted in both. Also, most people will have to lift in them for a good length of time to really get an appreciation for what they can or can't do for your lifting, not to mention breaking them in properly. Wearing them 1-2 times will not give you the real story. Based on what I've seen, the Nike's are a bit heavier, but more sturdy than the Adipowers.

I picked up the adipowers and love em. I notice I tend to lean forward ever so slightly when I start to really grind the last rep or 2 but overall it's an amazing investment. Thanks for the help.

So I've had the shoes for about 2 months and I don't think there for me. I still don't feel like I'm comfortable yet. I've also never had Hip issues and my hips have been bothering me for about 3 weeks. Not sure if it's from hitting more depth or just the shoe changing my position up. Anyone else else get Hip issues from switching?
