    My guess is that the meds and the holiday salt intake have bloated me a bit. I feel ok so no worries. Maybe I’m bulking a bit and I’m fine with that providing I’m gaining muscle and strength, not fat and water.

    The purpose of all this protein is to build lean body mass…so LFG!

    Lift was decent. While bench press results were not good, everything else seemed stronger.

    I should probably limit chest to 8 sets awhile and see if I make better progress as my pec tendons and shoulders are feeling it a bit.

    I’m out of whey protein so I’ll need to get to the store one of these days. I’m good with meats and eggs. Every once in awhile I want to add carbs back in but remind myself of the health benefits I’ve seen.

    It’s legs/arms day. It’s very cold so probably will have the knit hat on for a bit in the garage. Gotta decide which to train first today.

    Having whey coffee now..wish there weren’t freaking sugars and carbs in everything.

    Todays menu will be similar to yesterday I’d say.

    Lift was just squats and leg press. I warmed up and tried a 415 squat. Depth was ok but had another inch to go I think. I dropped to a nice pretty single with 405, then two sets of five at 315.

    Leg press felt tough after that with just seven reps at 13 plates. Pressed for time, two sets to go.

    2700 cals and a whopping 400 G protein yesterday.

    I had a good lift yesterday. The squat strength is real and the leg press is putting mass on my legs. I’m bombing calves regularly now with pyramids between sets of bis/tris. I added weight to all of my arm movements and I feel it today.

    I’ll be mimicking yesterday’s meals today trying for that 400 G protein mark at under 3000 cals. I like that.

    I’ve definitely been feeling bigger and stronger. Today is chest, back, shoulders day. I had a rough nights sleep but I’ll train the best I can. My appetite is huge again today as I’d considered cooking ground beef at 2 am. I’m having whey coffee now. The whey has a bit of carbs that drives my carb count up a bit each day but it also drives up my protein and as long as I’m not gaining fat and am gaining muscle and strength, I’ll not change a thing.

    Today I’ll definitely focus on all of the same lifts as usual and do my best to reach 10 reps so I can increase training weights. That’s the formula I’m using…10 perfect reps means increase the resistance. I’d made gains for years using 8 as my marker.

    Todays menu:

    Egg whites cheese/ham omelette
    Hard boiled eggs (8)
    About 14 oz chicken breast
    Whey coffee or yogurt and whey
    10 oz Ground beef

    Should hit 400 G protein and be right around 3k cals

    Workout done. Doubtful that I made any gains. Felt like stayed the same on all chest stuff…did well on back. Shoulders aching a bit. No upright rows.

    I hate giving up strength.

    That said I have given up some through age, weight loss and injury over the years.

    Today I trained chest, back, shoulders.

    Used free weights on bench 275x5-4-3-3-3, then incline 235x6-6-5-5, then flat fly and incline fly
    For back, pulldowns, narrow pds, rows…4 sets 6-10 reps to failure

    Seated OHP sets of 3-5 reps at 185
    Side lateral raises, just ignored the pain and did them.

    Rest day. I’d contemplated skipping the whey coffee because I know that right now the only carbs that I’m getting regularly are in the whey and yogurt.

    Then I remind myself that I’m making progress in the weight room. When you CAN and ARE gaining size and strength, you’d be a fool to stop!

    264 this am. It’s a rest day. Baking my chicken breast lunches now.

    During the work week this is what I typically eat:

    1- whey coffee
    2- egg white omelette with meat and cheese, bacon
    3- 8 whole eggs
    4- chicken
