https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showt...hp?t=167429941Tx. I have a similar problem as the gym is in the basement and all the openings are not more than 34" even the hatch to the basement. So any wielded rack is out of question.
Btw, I am also looking to upgrade the rack. There was thread by Mech6 that had listed all the essentials needed for a rack. I have the list but cannot seem to find the thread again. Only new thing is Keyhole .
here is the list not in any particular order
1. quick change safeties
2. cross-member for vertical safety straps
3. lower cross-member, offset behind rack
4. sumo base that still alows deadlifts inside rack
5. single pullup bar
6. adjustable weight storage
7. band peg holes
8. uhmw protected j-hooks
9. extra set of j-hooks
10. close spacing (1.5", 2"...)
11. tall enough for OHP or open top
12. docking station for bench
13. monolift
14. 3x3 uprights w/ 42" inside width
15. 2x3 uprights w/ 43" inside width
16. protected weight horns
17. standard size/holes to use attachments from other vendors
18. enough depth (24, 30, 36... varies)
19. stable enough on it's own without bolting down
20. dip bars
21. multi-grip pullup bar
22. powder coating
23. storage (hooks for bands, chains. Bars...)
24. flexibility - easy to add-on
25. numbered holes
26. front porch
27. quick change strap safeties
28. ability to attach other machines in rear (cable stack...)

Visited Rogue at the FIBO today.
Impressed with the curl bar, I have to say.
Also, the Russian bar is a thing of beauty. The spin was so incredibly smooth:

It's one of the, if not the, prettiest bar I've ever seen.
$770, ugh. Is the bar actually worth $770?Crews: Ivanko Barbell Crew #52, York Barbell Club #95, Equipment Crew #59

I'd be shocked if they've sold very many. To have a defect would mean they've had several runs of the bar. I can't see them getting out of their first production batch which was likely demo bars anyway. The price is high. People who are considering that bar will opt to spend the extra couple hundred and get the Eleiko, I already know two who considered it and opted Eleiko. If it was SS instead of chrome, they could possibly have more sales, but as currently constructed, I see this bar being discontinued.

Just wanted to throw this out there for information, the rogue mini deadlift jack has a 2" space for the bar, so it easily accommodates a fat bar (such as the iron mind apollon axle). Maybe other mini jacks do as well, but it's the first time I tried mine with the fat bar today.

This is the 3rd bar I've gotten from Rogue via closeout/boneyard. On all of them, I can barely find any imperfections. I wouldn't hesitate to order from the Boneyard again.
This time, I got the stainless steel Ohio bar. I'm trying to sell my Ohio Deadlift Bar and wanted a more multi-purpose bar. And wanted SS...just because. Knurling is great. My favorite knurling ever has been a bare steel bar (Rogue OLY bare steel) and now this stainless bar...just great grip and feel. It will be hard for me to consider a plated bar in the future.

Nice looking bar - congrats! Even like the plates. Had some in black myself but had so much trouble with them it was crazy.

What was your trouble? These GPI plates are not so nice - they were kind of a throw-in on a deal. 4 of the 6 plates have cracked hubs, so they are my sled plates. However, I just sold all my bumpers, so I'm using the 2 uncracked ones right now on the ground.
I really would like to get a pair of 25kg/55lb bumpers and some more iron 45s. I had a full kg comp set with kg change plates...so I had to keep it intact when i sold it - but I wish I could've kept the 25kg pair.Garage Gym Owner

No cracked hubs but the lots of issues with the rubber. Getting soft or literally melting off the plate. Seems there was some issue with the manufacturer at one time.

Good info on the Boneyard bars. I've had my eye on that Stainless bar, but really hadn't heard much feedback on it here. I really need a good all-purpose bar, and that might just be the one.. I was looking at the bare steel Castro bar (I've owned it in the past), but may upgrade to the stainless Ohio just to avoid some of the the bare steel maintenance.

I don't have any of these specialty bars, nor do they interest me...... but notice Rogue released one with knurled handles. Not really sure if knurled vs smooth really makes a difference, but it's out there now.

Barbells4Me is/was selling stuff cheap on Amazon. It looked like Chinese-made knockoffs.
I can't see any great need for knurling on a Swiss/Football bar.....I've never attempted any sort of pulling movements with mine, but I can't imagine my lower back would be able to handle any weight that would be big enough to really need knurled grips.[]---[] Ivanko Barbell Crew #29 []---[]

I've had issues in the past w/ my swiss bar falling out of my hands when using bands or chains, but only rarely with straight weight. WIthout chalk, it has become a nightmare. It's one of the few bars I really need chalk with lighter weights to avoid injury.
If I had to buy one today, I'd probably buy the Rogue version & take a chance. As someone who owns a swiss bar, I'd really like to know if the knurling compares to the OPB or just the OB.Last edited by Synthetickiller; 04-30-2017 at 08:16 AM.

I just received the new Rogue HG 2.0 collars.. will test them out later today. Quick impressions are they are a nice improvement.. they feel much more substantial and well made. The lever does have a little play when closed, which will likely cause some noise/clicking when a bar is dropped. Not a big deal but my older version didn't do that. Rubber on inside looks like a solid upgrade and these shouldn't slide at all on the bar.
