What according to you are the most important benefits of adjustable dumbbells?

Following are the topmost 5 benefits of Adjustable Dumbbells:

    Budget-Friendly

Adjustable Dumbbell Set, most preferable 15kg offers a weight range that is comparable to or greater than a fraction of the number of conventional dumbbells.

Would you like different weights without the additional wall arrangement?

Rather than buying a full set of fixed weights, adjustable dumbbells can be a great alternative.

Fixed weight sets can go up to several thousand, while a good adjustable dumbbell can be as cheap as 100.

    Space Saver

Are you short on space but want to have different weights in your home gym?

When it comes to barbell weights, adjustable barbells are the obvious choice because you can easily change your weight in a very small space.

Adjustable dumbbells can save you a lot of space compared to fixed-weight dumbbells.

You can also use dumbbells instead of barbells and do without long bars and weightlifting plates and not to mention the necessary storage space needed

    Versatile

With the ability to adjust the dumbbells to the weight you want and move them where you want, you can also use them for various exercises.

The advantage of dumbbells over other weights is that you can use them on almost any exercise, from squats to biceps and chest presses to stretching exercises.

Indeed adjustable dumbbells are very versatile.

Convenience And Easy to Travel With

Adjustable dumbbells are easy to use as they can be stored and transported to different parts of the house, or even outside of the house, or to work with you.

If you feel comfortable at home, at work, or wherever you want to exercise instead of going to the gym, you can potentially save the cost of club membership.

Depending on the model, you can switch between the weights with a twist or a click.

You can go from five pounds to fifty pounds in seconds without carrying or finding multiple sets of weights.

    Small Weight Increments

For the most part, dumbbells are available in 5 pounds, 10 pounds, 15 pounds, etc. weights.

When using adjustable dumbbells, you can often choose weights between these ranges, for example, 12.5 lbs and 27.5 lbs.

By using adjustable dumbbells, you can gain strength advances at a pace that is easier for you, allowing you to break through the force constants and get stronger.

Another benefit of this is that you can choose a very lightweight like 2.5 pounds or 5 pounds, which is great for starting or doing some stretching and warming up exercises.

IMO, a functional trainer is the ultimate adjustable dumbbell, and is far superior on movements with multiple planes of motion.

Never thought of it like that, but considering the cost of some adjustable sets vs something like the Costco Inspire FTX, yeah it's a good point.

I'll add more pairs, buy loadable handles, or get heavy-handle Ironmasters. I don't actually have anything against adjustable dumbbells. I enjoyed my Powerblocks for many years and just prefer the feel of a full set.

That said, I don't do any dumbbell work below 4-6 reps (usually 8-12), and there aren't currently any DB exercises that I value where I need or even want to go above 100 lbs. I'm just not that strong. And at 40, it doesn't look like I will be, though I'm going to keep at it. Needing more weight is a problem I hope to have!

Cost and space savings. I would prefer a full set of 5-120s, but that takes up a ton of room, and space is valuable when it comes to home gyms. I'm on the look out for a set of Powerblock Commercial U125s. I contacted them and they said they won't be making them again until mid 2022.

IronMasters are nice, but I don't see much more convenience as opposed to spinlock loadable dumbbells. Powerblocks are definitely the easiest to swap weight.

I would steer clear of any PB with urethane, which has been known to fail. Also, there was a thread about the knurled grip not being very good. Above 90 lbs, I don't think PB as quick to change either, but I only had 90s. You'd probably be better off getting Elites and ordering handles from JD Equipped. Very expensive and I haven't used them, but they look sweet. Personally, I love a good knurled handle, but I liked the non-knurled factory PB handle fine.

For me it's space and money.

My gym area is small and I'm cheap. A set of chrome one inch handles and a few hundred pounds of standard weights and I'm set. I can do pairs from five to two hundred pounds.

Those are sweet! Didn't know they made those. Thanks man.

I found some guy selling a set of 75lbs iron masters + the iron master bench for $800. Pretty damn good deal, but I'd never use the bench. It's tempting though..... I really like my EXPs though and how easy it is to change the weights.

You guys comparing a $1200 piece of Costco equipment to adjustable dumbbells is laughable. I mean why use a rowing machine when you can just install an Olympic size indoor swimming pool in your backyard, right?

One advantage that hasn't been mentioned is range of motion vs a fixed bar. With OHP, for example, there's more potential ROM than a standard bar. This can also increase risk of injury, but to that point it's much easier to bail on a set of dumbbells in seated or standing OHP than a regular barbell.

I'm not short on space, but in one pair of PB Sport EXPs, I have the equivalent of 28 pairs of dumbbells that would weigh in excess of 5000 lbs and I can transport them easily.

In fairness the pricing of $1200 on the FTX vs a set of high end adjustable dummbells (Ironmaster to 120/160lbs or Powerblock to 125lbs) is fairly similar once shipping etc...is factored. Space needed to store/employ is also about the same. A $1k Concept2 vs an $250k pool (not sure what an olympic size pool runs) in dollars and space isn't at all similar nor close. That said I own both an FTX and Powerblocks to 130lbs and do not view them as substitute nor really even similar products unless defined very loosely.

At the end of the day it's about an individual's preferences and needs. I want to own dumbbells as an option but they aren't remotely important enough to me to dedicate a huge amount of money or space to separates. Others prioritize dumbbell work differently and have different dollar/space constraints. Powerblocks are great for me, thrilled to own them.
