    Question for the Rogue experts.

I know the Monster Light accessories are usually cheaper, but which line (Monster or Monster light) offers the most accessories?

Is one set of accessories better than the other?

No expert, but I'd say monster. flip-down safeties and single leg squat roller pad come to mind. No equivalent in other series.

On the website, the Monster series has 32 accessories listed and Monster Light (ML) has 31 so options are about the same. I think there are a few accessories not listed on those pages though but probably still close to evenly missing between the 2 options.

I suppose the Monsters are technically built stronger due to the larger bolt used but I doubt the difference is noticeable or necessarily. The ML series appears plenty strong to me.

And then there's Sorinex and other big manufacturers that also use 3x3 with 1" holes whose attachments would work.

So the 1 inch hole is really the standard on most of the higher end 3 x 3 racks?

My rack is the monster light and I wish they offered a strap system that was quick release like the monster one (Rogue Monster Safety Strap System 2.0). From what I understand, the monster light version requires the strap to be removed with a pin before adjusting, which makes adjusting it a lot slower. I haven't purchased the strap system yet in the hopes that they'll make one similar to the monster version.

Good point. Was planning on eventually upgrading from my Infinity series squat rack to a full ML rack. I now need to consider going with the full Monster.

An update to their adjustable bench 2.0 roguefitness.com/rogue-adjustable-bench-2-0

I like the wrist roller but it is a bit pricey. Bench reminds me of some other brand but with bolt on sides for the adjustment notches.[/QUOTE]

That bench is a beast, it's listed at 128 lbs if that's accurate.

That's probably it's shipped weight because it is 2x3 11 gauge, not likely over 100 lbs. Still looks solid with small pad gap.

It looks a bit like my bench from Dynamic Fitness. I wonder why they bolted the ladder instead of welding it.

Sorinex, reflex, legend, rc... Yes, absolutely.

I may have some of my facts skewed, but the 5/8" pin rack was only produced (and I'm going to say idea came from Louie of WSB) to:
    1. be able to use rod/pipe. And no matter what rogue tries to sell you, 1" rod/pipe is really not the same.
    2. get tighter spacing (1" in bench area).
Then of course elitefts copied it (which led to some beef between Tate and Simmons in the early 2000s) through Williams Strength.

Only Legend (associated with Louie), Rogue (same) and Elitefts (competitor from the beginning) produce 5/8" pins racks. I'm not counting the 1000 copies that came after.

And apart from rod/pipe and spacing, there is no reason not to have 1" pins.

well they have the single leg squat roller pad now for the monster

Looks like they have been releasing a lot of new products lately. That adjustable bench is on my buy list, it's even cheaper then their old one and looks a lot nicer.

Anybody know why they don't offer flip-down safeties on the ML version? That's about the only thing keeping me from purchasing one.

Fellow Rogue crew- is the OPB considered their best overall 'powerlifting' bar? Would be used primarily for bench, squat, rows and occasional pulls.

It's a mystery to everyone. I waited for some for my R3 for years and they never delivered. It's just dumb on Rogue's part. Here's a link to Black Widow training Gear.. He'll make you some if you need them.. (I haven't bought any yet for my monster lite rack, but plan to in the future.)

Because they would feel bad taking away my main source of income . Seriously, I have no idea. But I've made so many (for ML and 2x3) that's it's ridiculous that they don't offer it. They would sell 100s the first day.

I recently picked up an OHP (bare steel) and have been very pleased with it. Good knurl, very grippy but doesn't tear your hands up.

I don't know if its the "best" as I haven't used a TPB or some (most) of the high-end competition grade bars. I have an older OB-20kg and I prefer the OPB for bench, squats and DLs.

For $250, I would say its a really good bar for the money. I don't think you can go wrong with it.

The inside of the R3 is 24" isn't it? If so, you might be able to save $160 by going with Northern Lights:

Thanks for the heads up! I recently sold my R3, but I'm sure others will find that very useful. That's a great price ($120 for the R3 size).. I just wonder if they ship to U.S?

It's not advertised but I believe they started late last year:

I shot them an email the other day, and communicated with a gentleman out of their Texas office. They are now distributing in the US, so if you are interested I would definitely shoot them an email or give their texas office a call. For comparison I picked up the SRCB6-90 (R6 clone), with dip & landmine attachments, for ~ $1190 shipped to NY. Well under their advertised 'in store only' price.

After I receive everything I will get some pics & review up. If you want the contact I worked with, shoot me a PM and I'll give you his email/#.

Thanks for the insight, I know there are plenty of bars to make a comparison with from other companies, but I'm talking about just bars from Rogue...is the OPB their best "powerlifting" bar? I'd assume so since it's the Ohio Power Bar...but they've got a bunch of different bars to choose from.

I remember seeing a video where Mark Bell commented on how much he liked the Westside Power Bar. Take that however you want though as he does have a relationship with Rogue. I have read that the knurl is a lot more pointy/aggressive than the OPB. I have never used one before though.

Ahhhh...got it. In terms of pure "power bars", I think the only two they offer are the OHP and the Westside. There are others that may work well, but they are more targeted to the crossfit community (ex: Chan bar, York B&R, etc.). Personally, I wanted more aggressive knurling, center knurl, and single rings for the big lifts (already have an oly bar).

When the OHP was out of stock for a number of months, I was very tempted to get the Westside bar. But, I struggled with whether there was $125 in additional value in the Westside over the OHP. Since I didn't have an urgent need, I waited and have been very pleased.
