    Fat soluble vitamin question

    So this might be an incredibly stupid question, but do you NEED to eat a fatty food with a fat soluble vitamin for it to be effective? Or does the vitamin simply latch on to the fat you have flowing in your body? I don't eat in the morning but would like to take my multi. I have avoided it because I always thought it was a waste since I wasn't eating anything with fat in it. Thanks.

    and fat soluble doesn't mean they need to be co-ingested with fat, just like water-soluble doesn't mean they need to be co-ingested with water, so take your multi whenever you like

    Taking a multivitamin with food is more importantly going to help your body break down the tablet/capsule. I prefer to take my anavite with my morning and evening meals, I would not recommend taking it on a completely empty stomach as stated above.

    ^Good post. This is also a reason why fat-free salad dressing is less than ideal.

    As far as multis go, not only will absorption of certain fat-soluble vitamins be better with some fat, but there's less chance of gastric upset.
