Oorja Bars - All natural protein bars

Thank you to user kkrathi for reaching out to me to try some of Oorja all natural protein bars. A very generous offer, I am pleased to write up my thoughts. These are not available at bodybuilding.com at this time, although hopefully in the future something can be worked out.

The Oorja website can be found here:
    www.http://oorjabar.com

First impressions: The packaging is nice. These bars come in two different sizes, medium and large. I received the large kind.

Nutrition Profile: This is for the large bars. I bar is 55 grams. It has 209 calories. Total fat is 12g, 1 gram of saturated fat. Cholesterol is very low, 1.4 mg or 0% of your daily value based on a 2000 calorie diet. Soduim is also low, 36 grams. Yes, 36 grams. Carbs are a total of 19 grams, 12 coming from fiber and 6.5 from sugar. Protein is 17 grams. Also you get 12% calcium and 8% iron.

Ingredients: Maybe the simplest list ever. Whey protein isolate, chicory root fiber, organic almond butter, organic walnuts, organic clover honey and cinnamon.

According to the Oorja website, oorja is a noun, sand script for vigor energy and life. Why mention this? Everything about oorja is natural, no gmo's, no artificial anything and naturally low in sodium. Looking at the ingredients there is nothing there unpronounceable.

Controversial ingredients: As I mentioned above, none. It's all good stuff.

Consistency: You can tell this is sweetened by honey. It isn't as chewy as some protein bars but it is chewy. It's not hard or super soft. The texture is pleasing. And the crunch from the walnuts is most welcomed.

Taste: This is taste like something you may make at home. It's clean, slightly sweet with an almond butter taste. The honey is the sweetener and it's mild but pleasant. There is no after taste or anything artificial tasting. I really enjoy these bars. I'll give it a 10/10.

Price point: A large package or 12 bars is currently $32.28. A package of medium bars is currently $28.98. At this price is on par or slightly above all natural ingredient protein bars. They are more expensive than protein bars with artificial ingredients but if all natural is important to you, they are about on price, being slightly higher than some (when I did a quick search I found boxes of various all natural bars ranging from $28 to $40.)

Overall: 9/10 I really enjoyed these bars. I'm not a huge protein bar eater but these were light and tasty. And you can't beat the ingredients. I would recommend these protein bars and hope that bodybuilding.com and Oorja can come to an agreement.

Just wanted to add something pointed out to me:

    "Sand script" should be "Sanskrit"

Sodium is 36 mg, not 36 grams.

    Just wanted to correct that
