He was tied up in a contract dispute with his old promoter IIRC. He signed with RocNation and should be making his return soon. I'd like GGG to move up and face Ward at 168, since he's never going to get a big fight at 154 or 160. I think Froch needs a dance partner as well. Those two fights would let us see where Golovkin really stands, since he's been crushing cans at 160.

I read that. Both Floyd and Manny made their recent opponents at light middleweight fight at a catch weight, though. Neither of them will ever get in the ring with GGG. He doesn't have the name or drawing power yet with casual fans and he would be HUGE at 154. The only fight for him at 154 would be Canelo, but Golden Boy won't let him near GGG either. He has to move up for a big fight.

Apparently Canelo wants Golvkin and Gennady said Canelo will be the guy to face him. If that ever does happen I hope its sooner rather than later. Man if there's one thing I hate in boxing, it's all this ducking and political bullsh*t. Two guys that want to fight each other but no...gotta protect Canelo so he can be the face of boxing instead of potentially getting KOed by Golovkin.
Such is life in boxing though. I guess Canelo/Cotto should be decent.

Would like to see cotto and GGG fight (as well as cotto/canelo), but with that said in cotto's defense; he's a small junior middleweight. Let alone middleweight. If anybody needs to man up, its the significantly larger man GGG. Quit challenging smaller guys who you hold a distinct size advantage over. Add to that he's got some serious power and doesn't bring much to the table money wise.
Yes he holds a middleweight belt, but he don't care about the belt and has no intention of fighting a middleweight. He's already told the committee that they aren't on going to force him to do anything, they can take the belt whenever they want.*Hawks*Huskies*Mariners*Gators*

This.
I'm already tired of seeing GGG beat up on cans. Middleweight is currently the thinnest division in boxing. Gennady has to stop chasing welterweights who occasionally fight at 154 and light middlweights with one fight at 160. If Cotto was a proper middleweight, he would give GGG a boxing lesson. Anyway, he should either move up or accept where he's at and stop calling out smaller fighters.

Golovkin said all along he wanted to unify the belts at 160, now he ha 3 and is waiting on that last one. Cotto wont do that fight, I love Cotto but he wouldn't stand a chance against GGG. The thing is though if he is going to play champion and hold that belt then f*cking defend it. Defend or vacate, Sergio was the same way. I really wish Golovkin was able to get Sergio that would have been a massacre.
He really is what a boxing champion/superstar should be. Fights 4 times a year at least and always looking for the biggest fights. Meanwhile you have every one else fighting twice a year if we are lucky and maybe one of those is a decent name.5/23

yep, every time he fights you hear about how what he's doing in the ring makes guys reluctant to take fights against him. Pretty sure Roach came out and said that Cotto wouldn't be fighting GGG anytime soon given where he is in his career. Thats not a fight that would interest a small middleweight towards the end.

1. Golovkin is still an option on the table that cotto is considering. Golovkin, a guy who is two weight classes bigger. Why isn't golovkin challenging a guy that is 1 weight class bigger? But yes, cotto is a b1tch for fighting guys who are bigger than him, while golovkin is what a boxing superstar/champion should be....challenging guys multiple division below him and all.
2. Wtf is the point of unifying a ****ty division?*Hawks*Huskies*Mariners*Gators*

So this dying sport will be getting 5 consecutive weeks of amazing action:

And all of this before some fight I've heard some minor buzz about for the first weekend in May..."Wherever there's a ******* posting walls of text, I'll be there. Wherever there's a juicy post lost in a multi-page thread, I'll be there. Cotto isn't fighting Golovkin. Roach has pretty much said it isn't happening and the only fight he will be doing at 160 now is Canelo even though that one pretty much fell through. Again, if Cotto is going to hold a MW title then f*cking defend it. Don't hold it hostage rejecting fights against the actual champs in the division. Who is Golovkin challenging that is multiple divisions below him? Cotto is a MW title holder. He is a MW.
It's impressive for anyone to unify the division. It doesn't happen often. Jermaine Tayler was the last by beating Hopkins. If you think the MW division is bad now look at it when Hopkins was the unified champ.5/23

Cotto doesn't even know what he is doing/fighting. Let alone roach. Who is golovkin challenging that is multiple divisions below him? Pacquaio, mayweather and cotto. All welterweights. And yes, golovkin challenged cotto before he even had a middleweight strap.
The canelo fight fell through as far as fighting on this cinco de mayo goes, but that fight is not off the table. Could very well happen in September. Ain't nothing being held up, ain't nothing relevant that can't wait. Plenty of good fighters in the division above golovkin.
Hopefully cotto just gives the strap up, so you bishes won't have anymore excuses as to why golovkin can't challenge guys his size, or god forbid, bigger than him.
That's irrelevant. Being unified champ isn't impressive when it comes by way of beating white Irish boys.*Hawks*Huskies*Mariners*Gators*

Check out HBO's Legendary Nights series on youtube, Its got all the classics from the 80's and 90's.
My fav all time fight was Julio Cesar Chavez v Meldrick Taylor. Goat great fight, great story and great all time controversy.
That was one of the first fights I can remember watching.
Chavez was the pound for pound king untill he fought Whitaker

Agreed on Golovkin. He comes off as desperate when challenging guys several divisions below him, especially when there are plenty of good opponents at 160 and 168 to choose from.
