Fukin sohmer. Literally a powerlifting prodigy, refuses to do one of the lifts.

If I squatted 395 with bare knees, and was too rawwww to wear wraps, I sure as **** would be cramming into the tightest pair of SBDs I could find to try and hit that juicy 400. Thats like chips on the bar at that point.

Unlike a lot of people in this thread bitching, I've been to my fair share of USAPL meets. I've never seen a judge "make up things on the fly" or "seemingly love to give reds". I've seen some judges that are bigger dicks than others, what with strict depth calls and some long pauses on bench. But nothing I would deem out of the ordinary.

Another stupid "rule" I forgot to mention at the meet: non-CPU/non-IPF members were not allowed in the warmup room doesn't matter if you're a coach. Luckily I sneaked in without them noticing my WPC shirt.

I'm pretty sure they made up many of the "rules" on the go. But then again, this is only in Canada probably.

This. In 3 usapl meets i got one red on squat for depth but the lift still passed. Ive never had an isssue with the lights. One time i felt the judge gave a 5 count bench pause but i wasnt the only one

While that may or may not be true, the image the IPF gets (seen from a non-IPF lifter) is so across the board. Its crazy, people love it or hate it. And thats a turn off to myself and many others. I was going to say thats a shame, because I have no desire to lift there right now. But its not. The IPF and USAPL are just another fed out there; they are no better or worse than any other fed. So, um.... /end meaningless rant

I will be there for the entire month of august next year. We are gonna be in Zagreb for 10 days for work related stuff, then we have a few days planned in Ronvinj and the rest we are free to go where ever we want. We have literally no croatian wine/cheese over here but apparently it is the new hot spot for some of your reds. For a first trip oversea, I'm quite excited

Erick I'm not bitching I'm having fun actually...most people take feds too seriously for me it's just a big funny pile of non-sense but I know I always have a great time reading facebook comments from our competitors whether it's about the ipf or gpc or whatever...

...the same way I laugh at those things I laugh when people I've competed with complain about getting their squats redlighted in GPC, and dude, you have to squat higher than that phagiani kid to get red lights in the gpc here, yet they make a facebook novel about it - either way we're not ''divided'', most of us compete in more feds and the ipf guys also regularly call us to their meets or come join ours, and we all end up making a great afterparty for the meets around these parts so it's all cool - especially interesting when you think about what kind of **** went down around these parts in the past

Have what I think is a knot around the left side of my lower/mid back that I'm going to have looked at tonight hopefully. No real pain just normal soreness from deadlifting and squatting. Never had a "knot" or at least one I could actually feel so will report back.

Thats nothing. I'm going on a 10 hours drive to meet NorthStrong, then an extra 3 hours drive and 5 hours boat ride to go meet a chick and I will still be in my own province lol.

As far as the IPF’s nitpicky rules go, people don’t realize you basically have two options. What can happen at a PL meet:
    1. Rules not enforced, judging too lax and bad lifts get passed.
    2. Rules enforced perfectly, perfect judging 100% of the time.
    3. Rules enforced in an overly stringent way, judging is too strict and good lifts get redlighted.

Anyone who has lived on earth for more than 5 years knows that #2 isn't really an option. So, choose #1 or #3 and be fine with it.
I’m not really sure which I prefer. It does rustle my jimmies when bad lifts get passed, but it also bothers me when great squats get redlighted, e.g., Pena’s 350 kg raw squat. (Was that what started the whole discussion? I didn’t read back enough pages…)
    637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.
    600/370/600 - best competition lifts.
575/330/560 - best competition lifts at 181 raw.

So I havent really been squatting or deadlifting at all the past few months. I made a calculated decision to be a bench bro, because when I started lifting I always wanted to hit 600/400/600 as all-time goals on the individual lifts. I exceeded those on squat and DL, but have never been able to do the 400 bench, even touch and go.

Anyway, I had a bad bench week last week, so I squatted a little on Saturday. Worked up to 345x2 and it felt hard. Im a bit shocked at my weakness.

Yesterday I got done benching and was again frustrated (spotter touched the bar on the second rep of 375x2), and so I went over to the squat rack and did..
    135x5
    225x2
    315x2
    405x2
    500x2
    545x2

Today I am agonizingly sore, but not too bad for basically not squatting at all for a long time

How do you manage that? Pressure against belt? Hope you have a relatively fast recovery.

I personally prefer number 3, but untested

Pena's 350kg squat (i think, and the only explanation that makes even an iota of sense to me) was called for up and down motion on bracing/breathing at the top, not on depth (which was B. Lilly's assertion)

I just found the cognitive dissonance funny (in the you have to laugh b/c you can't punch anyone in the face over the internet)that many of the people asserting that Pena's squat was CLEARLY DEEP ENOUGH, are also those who defend borderline/high squats on video with "YOU CAN'T JUDGE VIA VIDEO"
