I agree that high squats getting passed are worse than a close squat getting reds. However, I feel pretty bad for lifters who do everything they were supposed to do only to get reds. On top of that they may have traveled, spent money on a hotel , etc. the ipf/Usapl annoys me slightly in that regard. Judge according to the rulebook and nothing else. If you're not sure, give the lifter the benefit of the doubt. There are 3 judges for s reason.

My issue is that the squat was blatantly high. I'm really not sure how much help his backspotter was really going to be able to give him like that. I'd be more concerned about what the side spotters are doing. Their arm are wrapped all the way around the weight and in most cases making contact with it. Obviously I can't say they helped, but this is the kinda stuff that is pissing people off. Yes I know this is how you spot a 1000lb squat, but you can do that without touching it or looking like your pulling on it.

I agree. My brother got a close squat redlighted. From the front video it looked deep enough BUT I was there at the meet and I from the side it was too close and I knew it wasn't gonna get passed. Don't leave doubts in the judges minds. Here's the vid -> watch?v=ruNNzPjMmb8

Besides the high squatting the "fake" weigh ins or whatever really grind my gears.

Too much PL drama right now...war stories will have to wait until later. I'm thinking about picking up more bouncing work though. It doesn't pay enough to make it worth my time but it's f*cking fun.
I judged some of his lifts at Metroflex almost exactly one year ago. He had no technique, no idea what he was doing, and he still totaled 1850 beltless/wrapless. He lifted like a gym rat...excess knee travel on squat, elbows flared on bench, deadlift stance and grip way too wide. In the one year since then he has added three hundred pounds to his total but he still has a long way to go in terms cleaning up his technique and learning how to peak/perform in a meet. At the San Diego Open just a few months ago he didn't even know how to pick his attempts...he kept turning to Chad Smith for guidance. Now that people are paying attention to him and Chad is helping him with his programming, I think he'll go far. Kid has tons of potential.

Powerlifting becomes less relevant with every passing competition
Eddie Hall's DL is definitely a top 3 lifts of all time
4 other people pulled over 900 and 5 more pulled 400kg at Europe's strongest man. IncredibleTraining log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

IPA revokes meet. Wow. This pleases me. I think it will push Eric into better/new territory. The same as when GPA called Zahir out on his high squatting that was passed at some small-time GPA affiliate meet in some foreign country (don't know if that ever made it onto English-speaking internet PL community) and then later banned him for being insane (that certainly did make it into Western PL community). Then at this next meet he came back and smashed a legit 450 kg squat. Let's see if it has the same effect on Eric, and/or other Lilliebridges. And yes, most of Eric's lifts have been legit, or more than his other fam members, but this probably will press him to seek out bigger competitions rather than staying in the backyard meets.

So, the past week has been a completely awesome rollercoaster ride. Last Tuesday, I drove to Indiana and bought a 400+hp Camaro SS. The next day, my fiance and I flew to Vegas. Went to USPA nationals and talked shop with Bill and met zmcdole. Got married on Saturday. Back to work today and it sucks, but what an amazing last few days.
The highlight of the meet for me was helping Gracie V handle this kid https://instagram.com/david_fmartin/ who won best junior lifter (or something like that). The kid lost his mother 2 days before his last meet and still competed, then came to nationals and went 1117ish @ 132, at 15 years old. Then he and his family came to wedding.

Which of the following makes Brandon Lilly look most like a douche bag?
A. Quitting a gym and his friends because of a flag when he sold a t-shirt with a hammer and sickle on it
B. Making a big stink about his departure all over the internet
C. Deleting all of it shortly after he was owned harder than I have ever seen.Training log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=165829701

Sooo I'm going to need the fam to start taking screen shots of the PL drama so when the person in question realizes their mistake and deletes it before we can all revel in its glory.

They were actually a bit ahead of me. Posted on Sunday on the largest PL VK group. (This is a Google translation.)
In the US segment of ******** and powerliftingwatch open debate on the impossibility of offsetting the results displayed on the tournament GPA which was addressed by Eric Lillebridzh.
Large claims regarding bad judging, form of exercise, and other irregularities.
The owner of the resource powerliftingwatch plans to open Fail to vote on the ranking site Lillibridge results as "a record of all time," it is very persistent concern was back fear very much parallel dosedy. (I'm not sure of exact translation of this term, and neither is Google, but I see it all the time--"nedosed" means they didn't take the squat to full depth.)
In addition, a group of American lifters plans to ask the President of the IPA training of judges serving these tournaments.
Some interesting responses. Things like, "Why are people upset? This is how Americans always squat." (Apparently they didn't know about other concerns re: weigh ins, etc.)
People respond with, "Well, apparently even it's gotten so bad that the Americans are upset."
Others highlighted the spotters' touching of weights/lifters. ("Malan lifts without all this garbage on the sides. Get rid of these cheerleaders on squats.")
Still others said Eric needed to compete in real meets and remove suspicion of his lifts.637/390tng/615 - belt/wraps, best gym lifts.

Is it just me or is Animal's hardcore/motivational/black and white video editing annoying as hell? They do put out good content sometimes especially for raw PL but every time I see another Cage video I want to kill myself. Ok we all know the Cage is such a special place and every lifter dreams of lifting in there.
