Currently at 227.7 pounds which I'm glad about. Hoping to continue journeying down to 220.

Foodwise I prepped ground beef (which I unfortunately put too much salt in grrrrr!) so been alternating that with eggs as well. I also have some prepped spinach and will alternate with cabbage and kale for veges. I just threw out a whole lettuce that i bought two weeks ago because i'm always too damn tired to have to make salad...it happens all the time sigh!

Last week made it to the gym 4 times, this week hoping to shoot for the same.

We have a school reunion coming up this saturday which i'm really excited about for the first time ever....in the past I never attended any reunions because of how crappy I felt about myself. So it feels good for the first time ever to be happy with how I look in the mirror to the point that I've even planned my entire outfit for it! What i still need to work on is my confidence issues which i'm hoping will naturally come with time sigh!

Great job on your weight loss so far!

Depending on how you prepared your ground beef you can save it by running in under hot water in a strainer. Then throwing it back in a pan on the stove to get rid of the water.

Add new spices and you are in business.

Love love love where you are girl, mentally and physically!

You are gonna ROCK that reunion! Can't wait to hear all about it!

As far as salad goes, I am absolutely with ya there - however, if I can get myself to prep the lettuce on prep day, I portion it out into tupperware or glass mason jars and then have salads ready to eat. It helps me, maybe it can help you too xoxo

Thanks so much everyone for the kind words

The past week and a half have been rough...I have a very close relative who passed away and still almost can't believe it, feels like a bad dream and i keep thinking i'll wake up and he's still alive sigh. This life of ours is so fragile and we definitely shouldn't take it for granted.

The past 10 days or so involved long exhausting days of arranging the funeral and we finally laid him to rest on friday. I hardly ate the entire time due to how much work had to go into the arrangements etc The pain and the tears have been never ending, and now that the funeral is passed it's like all i can think of is him and I keep randomly bursting into tears during the day as I realize that he is now gone forever.

Times like this make me realize that there is so much stupid sh*t that I worry about like what others will think of me if i say something or do something etc...constantly living in fear of society. I realize now that living a life of fear (of society) is no life to live at all, and trying to just learn to do whatever the f*ck I want to do with my life (*insert hodgetwins voice*)....because life is too damn short.

I lost 2 pounds due to poor eating all week last week and general loss of appetite, now down to 225.1 pounds but this week taking better care of myself, eating regularly once again.

I haven't been to the gym in almost two weeks because past couple of days in addition to everything got a terrible cough/cold that isn't over just yet. So i'm just taking a couple of days off from the hustle and bustle of life to recover both physically and mentally.

Lessons learned these past 2 weeks: Do not take life for granted and live every day like it's your last.

Thanks so much guys...I really appreciate the kind words. It's definitely been a rough couple of weeks emotionally coming to terms with the realities of life, but getting back on my feet once again.

    -----------------------

Weightwise have still been maintaining the past couple of months which I'm okay with. Unfortunately due to life have not managed to make it to the gym for about 2 weeks and keep telling myself i'll do some home workouts (on youtube/dvd etc) at home but for some reason never get round to doing so. I managed to do a 30min walk round the neighbourhood on wednesday, but definitely need to increase my activity levels to at least 4-5 times a week like i was previously till i can get back to the gym.

In the "before" pic i'm at an art gallery exhausted after having seen afew paintings....in the "after" pic i'm trying on a fitted dress in the changing rooms (i don't have the guts to wear a dress that fitted out in public yet but i'm working on it!).

You might feel like maintaining for two months is not too much of a victory.

And maintaining for a couple of months is still an absolute win. That's a better mindset than going **** it and going off the rails totally for that time.

So I've been MIA for about a month sigh! Things have been kinda rough, i went into abit of a slump after my cousins passing 2 months ago and things started to spiral out of control for abit.

My gym membership ended early April and I've basically been out of the gym for almost 2 freakin months! (after having been a dedicated member there for over 2 years). And it came at a time when finances were tight, everyday for the past 2 months I said i'll do a home workout and i did not sigh! In addition with the frustration of not working out my food started to go out of whack...so whereas I've been strict keto eating less than 40g total carbs for over 2 years, I started to unravel, have been eating and almost 3000 calories daily for the past month or so, and my carbs started to creep up to the 60-70g range (as i was making lots of keto type breads/cakes/sweets etc)...but have since reeled that in. This past couple of weeks have been a good reminder for me that i'm a carb addict, the more i have, the more i crave and it helps affirm that for *me* i shall just have to stay keto for life if i want to continue being on the path to good health.

Exactly one week ago I stepped on the scale and it read 235 pounds (13 pounds up from my lowest of 222 pounds just 2 months ago!!!!). I knew something was really wrong and knew if i didn't quit not giving a crap that things would completely spiral out of control.

So as of a week ago I got back to my strict keto of less than 40g carbs a day, and keeping my calories within range and now intermittent fasting about 4 days a week. (Loosely following principles from the book "The Obesity Code" by Dr. Jason Fung who has lots of free youtube videos available and blog posts availablee)...he advocates for intermittent fasting especially for the obese as well as to help fix metabolic syndrome issues such as insulin resistance, high blood pressure, diabetes etc.

Anyway the good news is that i've lost about 10 pounds this past week (woohoo!), I could tell i was holding onto alot of water (normally i hold onto around 3-4 pounds on average, but 10 freakin pounds of water weight is ridiculous)! I'm guessing I got knocked out of ketosis hence the water retention but now back on track again. So i'm glad to be down to 225.8 pounds....meaning just 3 pounds away from my lowest weight which I'm guessing is the actual fat I gained from the overeating (or should i call it overfeeding month sigh!).

More good news, as of today I joined a new gym (I actually paid for it a week ago but have been sick with a cold and to be honest was stalling because i was just so damn SCARED to have to be new all over again at a gym....the other one was like my home, everyone knew me and i felt so comfortable there). Now i have to start over being the "fatty" at the gym where no one knows my history that i've actually lost a bunch of weight and have to deal with social anxiety etc all over again.

The real reason for changing gyms is because i'm being realistic, finances are tight, the previous one was a luxury gym and i was paying more as it had a pool (but i havent swam in over 1.5yrs) so there's no point. This one i joined is alot more basic but is clean and has all the machines i need and that's all that matters.

I finally got over my social anxiety and hauled my a$$ over there today to sign up for day 1, they assigned me a trainer to show me how all the machines work so i'm glad i now have that figured out. The receptionist kept trying to push for me to pay for a personal training programme but i told them i'm not interested as I'll just tailor make my own workout like before at the previous gym. It feels hella awkard being new, lots of stares/glares etc but i'm so proud of myself i just did my own thing and did about 45mins in the weights room and about 15mins cardio and called it a day.

As i sit here i'm SORE all over! I did not realize how fit i was before (or rather how being out of a gym almost 2 months can make one so very unfit). I wish i'd signed up sooner but no regrets, what matters is i'm back at it. I find that doing a good workout helps keep me my nutrition in line as well.

Will try update every couple of days on here to stay accountable because when i'm gone too long it's easy for things to just unravel and go backwards instead of forwards!

Thanks for the update Cherry! Sometimes life gets in the way, but you didn't give up so be proud! You will gain fitness back quickly, and will be a regular soon enough. And yeah, all those gyms try to make you sign up for the training, and most of those trainers aren't worth their salt. Hang in there girl!

Hi cherry, it's awesome to see you post again. You motivate people with your drive and you brighten the community. I remember when I was hard on myself for no reason and it feels normal to call ourselves down but it doesn't do any good to our self esteem. So don't think of yourself as the "fatty", things will get better and you'll have all the confidence in the world and you'll regret saying that about yourself, believe me. In all honesty I'm jealous of your success but in a good way. Lately I've been making better choices and it feels awesome! Mirin that ten pound whoosh!

    Hey Cherry.

A genuine and hearty well done on stopping the negative spiral in it tracks and getting back into the lifestyle. You have come so far already, and the ability to re-draw that line in the sand and say "not a damn step further on the easy path" is a true testament to your dedication to this process.

I know its hard, but dont give the onlookers a second thought - you are in the gym for you, and your work rate and discipline will do all the speaking that is necessary. The "angry glares" will fade into looks of respect in good time, and you will feel at home again.

Keep on working at it, you absolutely have this.

Great work. When i have fallen of the diet wagon, i didn't stop before i was right where i started, so your turnaround shows resolve. Be proud of that.
It's a really good idea to update in here with a little higher frequency. The sense of group accountability can sometimes make up for a momentary loss of self control.

    Hey all,
I wanted to say thanks so much for checking up on me and the very kind words...can't believe it's been over 2 months since i last posted!
    --------------------------

I've been struggling the past couple of months....i keep getting down to the high 220s then bouncing back upto the low 230s, over and over again for the past couple of months.

I've been eating way more than I should and just can't seem to stop myself. Everyday I say I'll go back to eating at a deficit of under 2000cals which i did for years but it's like my mind just won't cooperate anymore and i've been eating just under 3000cals for months now and just can't seem to stop.

I've been going to the gym on average 4 times a week which I'm at least glad about...however was sick with a terrible cold the past 2 weeks and only got back to the gym on Monday and still suffering crazy DOMS from that workout. Today did a 1hr spin class and was surprised that I really enjoyed it and was able to power through the whole class and with energy left to do a 20min walk thereafter. I've been doing alot of squats, deadlifts and lunges the past couple of months (using the very light preloaded barbells),
it must mean they've helped strengthen my legs because in the past spin class would kill me but today was a breeze so that was a nice surprise.

Whenever I dissapear from here it's because deep down i feel embarrassed because after the great progress i made the past couple of
years, I have been in a stall for almost exactly a year now (have pretty much eaten at maintenance the past year). So will really try to post abit more often on here to stay accountable.

I'm still on keto....going on 2yrs and 4 months now on it and still planning to stick with it for life as it seems to be the only diet on earth that has enabled me to lose weight sustainably without gaining it back for the first time ever.

I don't think i've given an update since I joined the new gym ...been at it for just over 2 months now and i really love it ( i hated being "new" at the beginning) but used to it now, everyone is friendly. There's a whole lot more guys here (most women at this gym only stay in the cardio room) and initially i thought the guys would ridicule me for being in the strength training section doing my squats etc using the light barbells/dumbells but everyone seems to mind their own business and the few times i asked for help with something they've been really kind. I still get gym anxiety every now and again but i learned a long time ago to turn up my ipod on loud to drown out the "noise" and it works everytime. And I am proud to say that I have cute (and dare i say brightly coloured) gym outfits now so that helps me feel confident and good about myself in the gym as well.

Will try to aim for a minimum of 2 weekly updates on here to help stay accountable. I hope all's been well with everyone and i'll try catch up on others logs soon.

Nice to hear from you! I feel very similarly, I did well cutting up to October of last year, and now it's like I can't get me to cooperate any longer. If you're within 5 pounds, then continuing to exercise will only help. I'm not sure how I'm going to get back on plan yet, but until then, I make sure I keep up with my workouts and be happy with strength and fitness gains Nothing to be ashamed of!

i tried repping you earlier but it wouldn't let me.

Thanks for the kind words! And yep, it's crazy how for months at a time we can be so focussed then thereafter it's like i don't know, a mind/body disconnect sigh! And you are so right, the one thing i've also tried to do is keep up with my workouts so that at the end of the day i'm at least at maintenance rather than a surplus. Wishing you all the best as you try to get back to it (goodness knows i need it too!).

    Hi Cherry.

Eating at maintenance for an entire year, after having lost that mountain of weight you did, is not failure, nor meh!

It's pretty good if you ask me!

You are now among the few who have lost a whole bunch AND kept it off for more than just a few months.

Nothing wrong with maintenance, even for an entire year. You will bounce back and lose more. Just stick with it.
