So you're saying a person who occasionally plays guitar and sticks to 4-chord guitar songs cannot be compared to a jazz virtuoso proficient in theory, composition, and performance playing for a decades?
I'm honestly at a loss of words to describe how much stupidity actually exists. I seriously thought people were trolling ITT for a while.

I'm a big Beck fan, but this has been probably his safest album to date. A lot of the weird elements he puts into his songs were watered down. I was shocked he was nominated, let alone won. Still kicks the schit out of the other nominees though
And lol at the Grammy's not having anyone who knows a damn about metal/heavy rock still

People are blowing this way out of proportion. Kanye said after that he loves Beck music and that he wasn't referring to Beck as not being a true artist. He was actually talking about the Grammy's as a whole. He just felt that Beyoncè latest album was better than Beck's latest album. He wasn't implying anything about Beck not being a true artist. It's his opinion and he voiced it, he always has been outspoken even during when he was just a producer. People need to chill the **** out lol.

listening to a few songs from becks new album posted in here... he seems to of gone John Denver style... Its peaceful and I enjoy it. Not my main style of music but neither is country and I find a few good songs here n there.
music spectrum goes from folk---------------black dark metal lol. rock, actual rap, EDM, trance, southern rock/country. Honestly if its good I'd prolly give it a chance and listen. Honestly the only good "rap" artist anymore is either Common or Tech N9ne... actually have a flow
where was the love from Kanye when Tech should of been at the grammys for Sickology 101... no where"it's alright man, you can laugh. I laughed when you walked in" - Jay Cutler

kanye's at it again; making people famous, reviving careers and giving more exposure to those who deserve it.
first it was taylor swift. look at her now.
he then introduced Paul McCartney to a new generation
and now single handedly revived Beck's career.
Yeezy truly is a musical god. and let us thank him for all he's done for us.

This has got nothing to do with RELEVANCY.
The grammys wouldn't have 83 categories praising all aspects of music if it was about "relevancy"
The majority of those 83 winners you would have never heard of.
the Billboard awards, award artists on their sales. It of course applies to the Grammys too, but the Grammys have always had more artistic integrity, they are the Oscars of music.

prob why beck still called kanye a genius... he knows how the attention game works...
good for real artists everywhere though.... this incident made some unawares lookup beck and realize the stark artistic difference between commercial-media and artistic-music....... kanya being mostly persona, but a barely literate rapper....... versus beck being a strange, kinda aloof dude with little commercial success but an absolute prodigy of music, diction, and artistic-intention.We need systems approach to government, no longer partisan patchwork
adios guys, ill lurk 2/15

Whether you believe it or not, Soulja Boy is actually one of the main pioneers for how hip hop is handled and even created today. Many of the Atlanta artists that are popular right now were influenced vastly by the music of Soulja. (And obviously ***** Mane, since he is from Atlanta).
So he kinda deserves what he's got
