Usually heavy metal for me, like Rammstein, Metallica, Disturbed, whatnot. Sometimes late '80s (Benjamin Orr, Robert Palmer, Bon Jovi).

This is the same for me as well. I am motivated to lift when I am in the gym. I think about what lifts are ahead of me, and think about completing my lifts. On a day I am not motivated, I don't go in, or I go and do what I can.
Music is not a motivator for me.
* Pet peeve of mine are people who have to look cool while lifting, wearing Beats headphones and other swag, and never do legs.

Mick Jagger's legs are bigger than yours. . Jk
My gym plays elevator music at 5am so I use waterproof wireless headphones. Was using pandora heavy metal, or classic rock stations. Now just found Amazon prime has free streaming music, already planning a Rage Against the Machine athon tomorrow morning.
Im fine with no music too, but bad music is worse than none to me.

At my gym they let anyone plug their tunes into the speakers which is fine but these 2 guys always put reggae on and I'm not talking drumnbass ragga I'm talking some chill lovers rock. I swear its so unmotivating just makes me wanna lie down and light a huge blunt!
retired from powerlifting, retired from the misc

Interesting hearing what everyone else has on their playlist. Pretty cool selections actually.
My workout playlist is usually uptempo hard rock to heavy metal and all over the place from Linkin Park to Deep Purple, Ozzie to Rammstien
Wifey doesn't like it, but there is no Madonna or Adele or crap like that allowed in the home gym. The harmonics would definitely break the subwoofer and cause the paint to melt on the bench and weights.I'm going to take the Sc0liosis curve out of my back and eliminate my nerve pain
