I understand that many of you consider gender to be an insurmountable factor when it comes to fighting. In my experience, size is a far greater factor than one's sex.
Rousey has a far greater chance of beating a fighter like Aldo than Aldo does of being able to even put up a fight against Jon Jones.

I'd say they're about even chance. Gender makes a huge difference (strength and muscle mass difference is huge) and not to mention that Ronda, outside of armbars and judo, is not even that skilled at grappling or striking. Not to mention, using your earlier analogy that Aldo has to make Ronda's weight, then Jones would have to make 145, which would never happen.

Right, but when Aldo is also an expert in grappling (including arm bars), it really wouldn't matter. Other than judo, Aldo is superior at every aspect of MMA than Ronda is, including grappling (other than judo, like I said). Ronda couldn't even get an armbar on a former boxer. There's no way in hell she is getting an armbar on Aldo. I get you hate smaller guys for some reason, but you're just being dumb here.

I'm saying that Aldo is not nearly the grappler Ronda is. Being highly competitive in BJJ is nowhere near the same as being elite in Judo which is a far more internationally popular combat sport than BJJ with much greater worldwide competition. Don't let the Gracie hype fool you.
I'll be the first to admit that Rousey didn't play that last fight very smart. But I wouldn't judge Aldo by his poorest performance. I am guessing that he also learned from the L he took.
And I think this is a misunderstanding based on sport. I'm sure it is different in striking sports, but size/weight play a far more significant role in grappling than gender. A woman who is my size would present a far greater challenge for me to pin or sub than a dude your size. It is just easier to toss/move around a person as light as you are. And managing much of anything when you have an opponent crushing you with my weight and leverages is daunting to say the least.
I'll admit that I've never been in an MMA fight with a truly elite striker, but I get the impression you have never rolled with even a decent grappler who had a weight advantage (of any gender).

Muscle fibers are significantly different in men vs. women: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8477683. Of course there are outliers, and Ronda is likely (obviously) one that deviates.

Muscle fibers are most certainly different between men and women. But much larger athletes will just have that much more muscle.
I'm not saying that gender plays no role. I'm just saying that size plays a much larger role. And that the role of gender can be far more easily overcome through skill than the role of size.
I have to agree with this.

I am bigger than most women (170 lb), but I have rolled with a BJJ black belt and a bunch of blue/purples. I got destroyed, but I also am not really a grappler so it was expected. Judo at the women's level isn't any more competitive than BJJ at the top level. It's been international for a few decades now, and is more used in MMA than judo is so it's at a higher level internationally. There's not much money in judo compared to MMA.
Would Aldo beat Jones? Definitely not. But I would bet that Jones could beat nearly any UFC heavyweight, except maybe Werdum, JDS or Cain. And those are big maybes. Guy is a freak of nature and I think he could beat even the bigger HWs like Hunt or Rothwell.{Misc Fisherman Crew}

I actually thought you were bigger than 170. I meant that I would rather fight a dude around 200 lbs than a woman of my size. Guess it seemed a bit obvious that I'd prefer to fight a 170 pound male than a 230 pound woman, my bad.
Judo at the international women's level is still way more competitive than BJJ. The amount of players and national teams make it so.
And if we're going for grappling arts with the greatest benefit in MMA, wrestling is by far the winner.
You are correct that there isn't money in Judo. But MMA doesn't reach nearly as many countries as Judo/wrestling does.
I didn't say that Aldo wouldn't beat him. I said that Aldo wouldn't even put up a fight.
I was just making the case based on the size difference between Aldo and Jones. Replace Jones in that comment with the name of any HW that you mentioned. There isn't one that wouldn't blow through Aldo like he wasn't there.
This is no rip on Aldo. He's a damn good fighter for a little guy. Size just plays too big a role in fighting sports.

But you don't think size matters when it comes to Ronda... You said Ronda could beat most males at LW or FW, too, including Pettis or Cerrone. They walk around at 185 lb or so (probably more). That would mean they weigh 40+ more lb than Ronda. So you don't think GSP can beat a smaller HW, despite weighing 30 lb less than them, but Ronda can beat a male that is 40 lb heavier because she was a judo medalist, even though that male is also a world-level BJJ talent and hasn't lost in a decade? You have to be trolling. There's no other way you can be that dumb and contradictory. I know you hate us shorter guys. Did one of us pee in your cheerios or something?
And do you think Jones could beat a guy like Rothwell or Hunt, despite being outweighed by around 60-70 lb?{Misc Fisherman Crew}

Rousey's walking around weight is over 150 lbs, she cuts to 135.
I just don't think that Aldo is that good or that the small weight difference that he has over Rousey is enough to make him an insurmountable opponent. No way in hell would Rousey be able to stand a chance against a heavyweight fighter. Size does matter.
And Aldo hasn't been beat in over a decade in his weight class. I don't exactly consider them the most intimidating warriors on the planet. Hardly makes him an Emelianenko, besting any fighter alive for almost a decade.
And saying I hate manlets because I recognize they are at a vast disadvantage in a fight because of their diminutive size is the same as saying that you must hate women because you think that they are weakier than your little ass.
Do you hate women?
I have a Manmore table. You'd need a ladder to be tall enough to piss in my Cheerios.
Rothwell is a subpar grappler, I think he is like a purple belt in BJJ. So I think Jones could pull off a win.
Hunt is a boxer/kickboxer with no grappling/ground game. Yeah, Jones would have a good shot against him.
I don't see Jones pulling it off against Velasquez, tho. Dude has size and knows what he's doing on the ground.

Rousey supposedly walks around at 150. Aldo walks around at 170. Earlier in this thread, you said Rousey could beat male LW fighters, despite the fact she is outweighed by 35-40 lb or so and is a woman. But then you also said GSP would lose to smaller HWs that outweigh him by 40 lb. So you are contradicting yourself.
Also, Rothwell is a purple belt in BJJ. His grappling isn't great but it's capable. He beat Mitrione with a nice choke. He also outweighs Jones by 60 lb (Jones walks around 225-230, Rothwell 285-290), which is quite a bit in grappling (as you said on this page).
He still appears to be rep trading, so he found a new home at least{Misc Fisherman Crew}

Wondering where you were. Good to see you, bruv.
Four or five Geezers were looking to get the thing shut down because of some beef they had. So they started a massive efight.
Even though it was four of them against me, their mod buddies gave me a month in banned camp and locked the thread. I was the only one to take a ban, so I must have been fighting myself
Just got back from said ban. Thought about getting together a thread of the Geezers who weren't *******s. Just haven't gotten to it yet.

I did say that. I think that she could beat many LW fighters as so few made it to the highest levels of a truly competitive and effective fighting sport (like wrestling).
Yep. Depending on the HW.
Let's not get it twisted. If his opponent is a total tomato can, GSP would wreck him.
You hold belts in BJJ in higher regard than I do. He managed to choke out a Karateka, beating a striker on the ground doesn't make one an impressive grappler.
Jones has incredibly solid wrestling skills. I think he could beat Rothwell. Never said it was a sure thing as that weight advantage is so much to overcome. Learn the difference between "can" and "will".

Take it easy on the sloots, bruv.
You know what they say: "Be good or be good at it."
I actually enjoy our disagreements here. I like arguing **** like MMA when the opposing side brings more to the table than "LOL, woman no ever beat man" like many of the posters ITT.
I may think you're wrong, but you at least seem to pay real attention to the sport and have a decent (though flawed) knowledge of it.
Sorry for any negs that come your way because of what I just said. Here, I'll fix it:
Go fukk yourself mp83, you scrawny manlet *******
There you go, you should be solid now.
