Question How Bad for the Car Are Quick, Hard Turns?

Before I almost missed my block by driving too quickly so I ended up making a hard sharp turn at 25mph. My CTS has a sport suspension but it still feels like doing this can't be good for the car. From now on I will be sure to brake sooner since that felt like an accident waiting to happen if there was snow or if my handling was off and I drove onto the sidewalk. But would making a turn like that cause any damage potential accidents notwithstanding?

only thing that I had to replace so far were my front wheel rods, like 60 bucks a piece, from taking sharp turns, also have a cts. To answer your question, if you wan't to avoid unnecessary costs then drive like a granny, thing is you'll never really be a good driver if you drive like that, positives and negatives to everything.

I go out on the second sunday of every month and make lots of hard sharp turns on my car on purpose, haven't broken anything because of it but it's not a cadillac so I'm not sure if that's helpful or not.

If your car breaks from turning it then you probably need a new car.

How often do you take sharp turns though? After trying it out once I don't think I'd do it again since if my turning wasn't as sharp I could've ended up on the sidewalk and did actual damage. Not really looking to do repairs beyond maintenance either so I've really got to stop testing different maneuvers.

If you break something doing 1 sharp quick turn, then you should probably sell your car back to Freddy Flintstone.

If you want to see how a car handles, go to an open track day. But you will probably end up breaking **** if you go hard enough.

This. Your suspension and tyres are there to handle chit like that. It's just a matter of a bit more wear and tear than usual because you're applying strong forces and stress to the components. If you keep on doing it, then you might need to replace some parts a bit sooner than you would otherwise eventually, but, assuming you're not running into anything, then it's fine.

Unless your car's suspension is on the verge of braking down, it should be fine. The only thing you're "hurting" when doing that, are your tires.

    As some posters have said,
It is simple wear & tear. If you do it once, it's not the end of the world.
Are you destroying your suspension and burning your tires? Depending on brand/material they are made to handle some abuse. But yes, you are.
