The issue isn't "constant fear of being invaded by intruders with semi automatics". It's the fundamental fact that a firearm is the best defense against ANY form of violent crime. Acknowledging and being prepared for reality is not "living in constant fear". Do you have car insurance & wear a seatbelt because you're in constant fear of being in an accident?
