twice brub; both from injuries that got progressively worse 'cuz I was too stubborn to rest. Drives you a little crazy for a while but I'm glad the itch to get back in the gym is as strong as ever. BTW all gains are currently gone.

The cool thing is once it happens you know you can get back there and it's easier the 2nd time around

yep, ran most days on a treadmill for 1km and did situps for about 3 months? Didnt really have any goals or anything in particular just wanted to feel better about myself and it worked. Thats what gave me motivation to train at the gym.

Take a picture of yourself and then stare at it. It will horrify you to take action.

I'm not exactly a ripped bodybuilder but I went from 170 to a gross obese 215 back to 170.

Didn't realize how bad it was until I saw picture and freaked the fuk out.

I know it's hard but just do it.

Dat dem der paleo/IF along with getting back into bodyweight exercises saved my life.

Comes with the territory, man. Life sometimes gets in the way and gives you setbacks - injuries, illness, personal/professional issues - all can slow down or stop your progress. How you react and overcome it is as much a challenge as any other goal.

i was borderline fit but i have been bulking, eating a lot and of pretty much whatever but usually healthy, to get more muscle and havent done cardio in years, when i get a bit more progress i plan on starting to run or something again. i do a lot of bodyweight exercises so i feel even if im adding on extra pounds that arent lean muscle, it adds resistance for my exercise which helps build the muscle and ill burn it off eventually, hopefully. right now my cardio consists of the feeling i get when my heart is pounding from lifting.

Done it. I played rugby through high school, college, and during my masters. Once thesis time came about I stopped going to the gym, ate garbage, lots of coffee, and went from 12 or 13% at least 25%. When I graduated and started working I dropped down to 15% and have stayed there since.

yeah...Avi is of me 2 1/2 years ago @ my strongest but not my leanest. Had a big breakdown due to depression and stress building up over the course of 10 months and didn't contact anyone or leave my apt for 3 days straight. (I worked with my dad at the time and had to call/communicate with him 3-8x a day typically.) Heard a knock at the door and it was a police officer checking up on me @ my family's request. Had to move back in with my parents which sucked, lost contact with all my friends, stopped working out and eating healthy, dad wanted a divorce from my mom (we think he cheated) and just a multitude of bad stuff happening. Lost ALL of my muscle, legs shrank, shoulders got small stamina went out the window. But I've bounced back in the last 3 months, lost a lot of weight and getting back to my former self.
Getting back into the gym and seeing how weak you've become is really demoralizing but I find the best way to motivate yourself is to go HARD on all lifts till your sweating your nuts off despite it being a 3rd of the weight you used to do.

Yeah, usually one year on one year off the past decade

Whenever I go on a diet and take it seriously I call it "going on a run"

I'm thinking about starting this summer so I'm ready NEXT summer. I've burned out too many times and want to go super slow.. chit cannot be maintained without loosing some mental sanity and extreme physical discomfort

I've got one more run in me before I hit the 30s and tours over, smash these sloots until my dink cant get hard for calorie deprivation. you with me op?

Twice. At my worst, I got to 260lbs at 5'11". I accepted real change from that will take time. I did not do an 'extreme' diet. My work outs were kept to be what I liked doing and I never did more than I can till I felt I had a handle on it. I did not count calories, I just learned to stop eating when I ate enough. Enough became less and less. I wanted my workouts to be enjoyable so I look forward to working out. Now, my workouts are brutal and I look forward to it.

Yep, did floundered around because of Covid, but snapped back fast.
