    Exclamation Head pain during Squat

Hi , so I started working out since June 2014 and all has been going well. Today I was squatting on 100 kg and I was on my last set and suddenly on my 11th rep , a huge pain in my head occurred . It was more like a pain in the brain. I couldnt even move for some time, I literally sat on a bench bashing my head with my own hand trying to decrease the pain and now after 1 hour the pain is slightly less than before.
My trainer was there when I was squatting and when the pain occurred and he helped me lock the rod on the smith machine and told me to rest.
So, has anyone experienced anything like this ? And why did it occur and what to do to prevent this kind of thing ?

Exertion headache. It happens from time to time, usually nothing to worry about. Get a physical and see if you have high blood pressure. If you mention this to your doctor he might order an MRI to screen for an aneurysm, just to be safe.

Exhale earlier in the squat. I used to get this when I held my air for the entire movement, now I exhale right at my sticking point. That solved it for me.

Also - could be sinus pressure that was aggravated.

Oh okay, thanks for the info. I was worried that something more serious might have happened. Thanks for clearing .
And, can you tell me when to inhale and when to exhale during squat so as to prevent this kind of headache ?

Yes. My legs were a bit ahead from my body and my hip and spine was perfectly aligned with my head.
