Above all, there are certain release triggers that suicide bombers use that detonate when the person lets go of it or falls to the ground. If you had been following the story from the start you would understand that he was interrupted by police officers when a woman reported seeing the weapon in his blue duffell bag. This specific hostage situation was not the original intention, and so he is making it up as he goes, attempting to look in control.

We're witnessing the ill effects of social media right now. People who are essentially divorced from reality, and now only see things through the lens of how many likes or views their online posting will get.
Couldn't fathom posting a selfie at a fukking hostage crisis, nor posting the vids on ******** after the authorities are doing everything to not spread them.

The news channel I'm watching reported it was/may have been a bank previously and has really thick windows. I had a look on google streetview and the windows aren't large open windows either. It's also surrounded by other banks (as well as media and a strongly named hair salon called "Blow up hairdressers").

Also those videos must have been filmed at least a few hours before being posted, because they've cut the power off in the building.

They mentioned a guy is holding up a cafe in Sydney with 15 to 30 people inside and that he held up a flag.

They aren't following this live or anything so that was it, but once it gets resolved or people die they'll bring it up again. They were more interested in the hostage taking in Gent although that seems resolved now.
