You'd have to check the loan document and see if it says anything about pre-payment penalties. I don't recall ever hearing about such a penalty on an auto loan.

There shouldn't be any fees for doing it, but that said there are some sneaky, dirty motherfukers out there who just might charge you. Chances are though that it'd just be a small one-time fee, and if you do the math on it vs interest paid over time you'll still come out way ahead.

Yeah I agree that it's a weird scenario. But here is a little explanation as to why I asked:

My Mortgage is a massive line of credit (Manulife M1)
My wife tells me that she is 'hesitant' to buy a nice expensive truck because of a possibility she gets laid off.
So she asked if we could just pay off the balance at any time to eliminate the large monthly payment (using equity on my Line of credit) and then just pay the relatively small interest per month until she regains employment.
