    EliteFTS Swiss bar weld splatter

With BF deal I picked up a EFTS swiss bar, but kind shocked with the amount of weld splatter on it. Has anyone else had this issue with their swiss/football bars?

Same issue with mine. I feel like I was properly warned from previous posters in their reviews. I still bought mine. I guess I was sold by the design and really liked the placement of the handles. Still does the job. But I am disappointment with the fit and finish. Especially compared to some if their competitors.

Most of the handles look like this. It just really seems like shoddy work, instead of spending a couple minutes cleaning it up then painting it. I have a Slayer Trap bar and Fringe Fat bar, and no splatter like this at all. I was up in the air between EFTS and BWTG, I decided on the EFTS because of the angled narrower center grips.

I'm sorry to see that. Mine is not quite that bad. But have similar issues. Picked it for the same reason while looking at bwtg and edge fitness options

The top ones look like spatter, but most of it looks like it wasen't cleaned properly before powder coating. Spatter shows up as perfect little spheres (look at top plate), not the crap going on below.
Send them the photo, not acceptable.

I just received mine too. I did not notice any dirt or splatter but did not look very close.

It was mentioned in another review but my only complaint is that it just barely fits into my York rack. If the plate stops were just .25 inches or more on each side, it would be fine. I put a 1 1/4lb plate which seems to help with the plates hitting the rack but the plate stops still hits both of the j-cups and it is awkward, at least right now, placing it back in the rack.

I was going to write up a review comparing it to a Westside Football bar once I get some time with it.

    Looks like TSS quality.

Doesn't William Strength make these bars? I'm not surprised. Their quality seems to have dropped over the years.

There are people who complain about the finish of weight equipment and then there are those who view the equipment as a tool and don't care about the finish. Companies seem to take on these same attitudes and, right or wrong, I have always perceived Elite as one of the companies that doesn't care about finish. I can just see Dave Tate laughing at these types of complaints.

Does Elite FTS even build this in house or is it subcontracted? I was considering this bar also but went with BWTG instead. Yea I'm also not impressed with Elite's service my Eleiko collars still haven't shipped I ordered them on Black Friday.

So really this is Williams Strength poor work. Wonder if the over all quality has gone down across the board for Williams Strength.

I can accept some flaws in fit and finish as long as it does not impact the ability to use the tool. The spatter and other defects complained above are on the handles. I would feel those defects each time I used the bar. Definitely not acceptable.

My EliteFTS SSB that I bought a few months ago has crappy welds and sloppy construction. Fortunately, the bar is fine functionally. I have no desire to buy from EliteFTS again (unless it is a super deal).

Looks ugly, the one I had was finished nicely and I didn't notice any spatter like that. Those bars are expensive, I would send it back and tell them to send you another that has a proper finish. I understand the functional argument, but that should really only apply to used or clearance equipment where you accept certain defects. If you buy something 'New' that is claimed to be high quality, then that is what you should receive. Surprising though, all of the bars I have personally seen from Elite have looked great.

I had issues w/ the uprights on both EFS 3x3 racks I bought.

The first had holes that were so off, you couldn't use the pipe & dowel to do pin pulls. The rest of the holes were ok for spotting bench all the way up to squat. It's as if when they got to a point & shoved the rack over & allowed the drilling process to continue. They were about a 1/2" hole length off. I couldn't even force the dowel into the hole.

The second rack they sent me had holes that works, but each side was unique. No matter what I did, the J cups would not let the bar sit level. The level of the floor & bar were not the same, so again, they were drilled willy-nilly.

I will mention this was YEARS ago. We're talking 2006 or 2007, I believe. Seems they didn't fix their issues in that 7 year time period & things have gotten worse. The company used to really catered to the powerlifter or any strength athlete. Not sure when, but once the company became popular & trendy, it only went down hill from there.

(I know I've mentioned this a million times, but I figured I'd add it in so people know what's up.)

Ok, but once again, efs is just a vendor. They manufacture nothing. And for stuff like racks, they don't even see most of them when they ship. It all ships directly from WS. So it's all on the WS side that QC is lacking or not. Doesn't excuse it, but it is what it is.

If Williams makes everything for Elite, the one thing they got right is the Swiss Multi Grip Cable bar. My favorite pull down bar of all time, very comfortable and I love doing supersets at different grip widths.

    I figured everyone knew that.

The issue is that EFS doesn't care what's shipped out. Slap an EFS label on it & jack up the price. If someone complains, blame the consumer. There's no excuse for why Elite cannot send someone out (it's business related, so write it off) to SC to check out what WS is up to & how things are going. They are their biggest vendor of WS products, right? At the worst, second to Sorinex.

If I was buying from a manufacturer, I'd be on the phone asap if I read some of the things coming out from this forum, or phone calls about the products. These aren't small issues at the prices being asked.

    ^^^^^ This.

If a reseller hopes to stay in business, they need to care about the quality of their suppliers.

Sorinex is a direct competitor of WS. They don't sell each other's stuff.
I agree with the rest of your post however. Bottom line, it looks bad.

The first post was this finish seemed half ass to me. I understand it is a piece of fitness gear that is going to get jacked up anyways, but same idea as a car you know it will get dings and scratches in it...but when you buy new unless its discounted you don't expect it to have a bunch of dings and scratches. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being to critical in thinking it should have been better finish.

My EliteFTS SSB that I bought a few months ago has crappy welds and sloppy construction. Fortunately, the bar is fine functionally. I have no desire to buy from EliteFTS again (unless it is a super deal).

I wasn't saying it was acceptable, I'm one of the picky people. That is why I avoid certain vendors.

Just to play a little bit of devils advocate here. While I agree that they probably don't think it is a big deal(because of what seems to be some prevalence), no one so far has posted about them actually saying "tough, that's the way it is". I'd be interested in hearing what happens if you ask for a replacement.

That being said, I suspect you won't get much. I don't think I'll be buying one of their bars any time soon.

Honestly its not bad enough for a replacement for me, but I don't see buying other products from them because of the quality. That being said I plan on emailing them, and see where it goes from there. I really don't feel like sending it back at all.
