Hundreds of civilians dead and wounded in an extraordinary all day bombing campaign today against numerous Damascus suburbs by the Assad and Russian air forces and rocket artillery.
Many graphic pics and video being posted including lots of pics of dead and injured children.
No terrorists there either. All Syrian civilians who are being slaughtered.

Breaking News
Egypt says no evidence of terrorism in Russian plane crash
http://www.reuters.com/article/us-eg...8GuK3pGLQyi.97
I dont like ISIS as much as anyone, but this crash has had the hallmarks of an explosive decompression and resulting structural failure, likely due to a faulty patch, post tailstrike incident in 2001, that eventually failed and resulted in the tail breaking loose in-flight.
We've seen this failure of post-tailstrike patches before and this one seems all too similar. After witnessing a fatal plane crash firsthand as a child, I've spent a lot of time studying all sorts of plane crashes all my life so I had a good hunch this one. This has been my contention as most likely scenario since day 1 of the crash. Its still possible it was a bomb of course, but the most likely finding will be that of structural failure and explosive decompression beginning at the location of the tailstrike patch.
This finding will likely cause some minor tensions for now between Russia and Egypt ... and that's a good thing IMO hehehe.

Syria conflict: Army retakes airbase in Damascus suburb
Syrian government forces have regained control of a military airbase on the eastern outskirts of Damascus, activists and military sources say.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said soldiers retook Marj al-Sultan airbase on Monday, and were trying to secure the adjoining town.
But a military source told the AFP news agency that the town had also fallen.
Rebel forces seized the airbase, in the Ghouta agricultural belt around the capital, in November 2012.When all that says 'it is good' has been debunked, what says 'I want' remains.

Zen I hope you don't still have your hopes up about a military victory by Assad-Russia-Iran in Syria, because it isn't gonna happen. They've made some small gains here and there but their offensive has been primarily one of failure on the whole.
All sides need to be working towards a political solution in Syria.
The main problems in all of this surround the facts that a political solution cannot involve al-Nusra, ISIS, or Assad as a part of the solution, and those three are currently unwilling to back down and accept those facts.

As an Egyptian who pays close attention to Egyptian and Middle Eastern politics, I can almost guarantee you it was a bomb. Our pathetic government is too embarrassed to admit it because this already has and will continue to destroy our tourism, which is 35% of our economy.
Instead of being men and admitting they screwed up and will try to improve security, they chose to be cowards and not own up to their incompetence because they think this is better for tourism, which is false. The whole world knows we ****ed up and probably will want to come even less now.

Unfortunately however, 99.9% of those opposing Assad are terrorists who are either composed of ISIS, Al Nusra, or other Sunni Islamist savage barbarian group. It's sad that the US and their allies in Saudi, Turkey, Qatar, UK...etc. are all on board with these death squads. They backed them in Libya too, and look what happened to that country after the overthrow of Gaddafi. Look what happened to Iraq after the overthrow of Saddam.
It's the same thing again this time in Syria. The US and its allies need to stay the hell out of the Middle East and stop supporting terrorist groups like they did in the 80's with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan to battle to Russians, look how that ended up.

UN Security Council unanimously backs peace plan
The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a resolution outlining a peace process in Syria.
The 15-member council reached rare agreement on the issue in a session in New York on Friday.
The resolution endorses talks between the Syrian government and opposition in early January, as well as a ceasefire.
The Syrian war, which is heading towards its fifth year, has killed more than 250,000 people and displaced millions more, the UN says.
US Secretary of State John Kerry, chairing the session, said the resolution sent "a clear message to all concerned that the time is now to stop the killing in Syria".
"The resolution we just reached is a milestone, because it sets specific goals and specific timeframes," he added.
The resolution calls for a ceasefire that should be implemented in parallel with the talks.
However, actions against groups considered terrorist organisations would not be affected. This would allow Russian, French and US air-strikes against Islamic State to continue.
One of the major sticking points so far has been which rebel groups should be considered terrorist outfits and consequently excluded from any talks or ceasefire.

WONDERFUL NEWS***
Russian raids kill prominent Syrian rebel commander
Russian air strikes have struck targets in multiple locations in Syria, killing the commander of the best organised and best armed opposition group in the Damascus area, Al Jazeera has learned.
Friday's attacks, which notably targeted the opposition stronghold of Eastern Ghouta, killed Zahran Alloush, head of the Army of Islam.
Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbara, reporting from Gaziantep in Turkey, said Alloush's death was a major blow to the opposition, as the rebel leader commanded a 20,000 "well-armed rebel force."
"He was always seen as the immediate threat of President Bashar al-Assad," he said. "His death is going to be reverberating across Syria.

A lot of FSA lovers seem quite upset about his death.
Example: On the page of one of the members of the Syrian American council, people are saying "May he attain Jannah".

From the pulpit at a mosque in the besieged Damascus suburb of Ghouta, Syrian rebel leader Zahran Alloush denounced democracy last December as a corrupt system and left no doubt that he seeks an Islamic state to succeed the government of President Bashar Assad.
But in his first interview with U.S. news media, Alloush was the model of pragmatism.
Gone were his previous calls to expel members of the ruling Alawite sect from Damascus. In the interview he called them “part of the Syrian people” and said that only those with blood on their hands should be held accountable.
Abandoned, too, was the talk of an Islamic state. Now he said he favored allowing Syrians to decide what sort of state they wanted.
“We want to establish a state in which our rights are fulfilled,” he said, denouncing what he called the “sectarian discrimination” against the Sunni Muslim majority. “After that, the people should choose the sort of state they want.” He said he would favor a “technocratic, professional government.”

Top Rebel's Death in Syria Reshuffles Deck Ahead of Talks
-the withdrawal [of thousands of militants and their families from neighborhoods on the southern edge of Damascus] is being delayed for "logistical reasons." But Lebanon's Hezbollah-run TV station Al Manar said that Allouch was a key figure in arranging the rare deal, and that his assassination has delayed its implementation
-If it leads to instability and infighting among the rebels, or weakens command and control in the Ghouta, we could start to see a shift in the balance of power in the Syrian capital over the coming months
and as expected:
