A lost dog showed up at my apt last night after thanksgiving dinner was over. He is an older golden lab, and very well trained. Asked neighbors if they recognized the dog but none did. His tag is gone too. Doubt he is chipped but may take him to the vet to check.
What do? I feel bad because I know he wants to go home, and I'm sure his owners miss him. Will post signs later when I am off work.
For now he is laying on my bed with a ball he found last night

If you take to vet they will scan for chip, if he is chipped they will usually keep and call. I would put up flyers for a couple days, check CL ads, and the online sites like PetHarbor etc. in case owners post lost ad. Just make SURE its the actual owner ask them to identify him without giving any info away. There are some sick people out there sadly.

Call your local animal shelter or City pound. People who lose pets will sometimes put in a lost report with them and you can see if your dog matches the lost report so he can go home. Its someones pet, the right thing to do is call Animal Control...might belong to an old person who can't get out and see your posters and what not.
