the trailer is set to be released today via itunes and select theaters. i will update the op with the trailer once it releases. rumors suggest 10:15 am est.

so untill then, what do you guys hope to see/expect to see in the trailer?

i hope it shows atleast a glimpse of the new cyborg collector/grave robber antagonist, some shots of a bearded luke skywalker, some han solo of course, daisy ridley paying homage to carrie fisher by wearing a skimpy bondage outfit, epic new john williams score, and maybe a few seconds of a lightsaber duel going on.

bro, you realize that this one is being written by the same guy who wrote empire strikes back right?

theres plenty of reasons to be excited for this one.

-kasdan is writing it
-george lucas is not directing nor is he a writer
-going back to practical effects and minimalizing cgi
-we arent going into the films pretty much knowing exactly what will happen
-the concept art looks epic(ill update the op with some)

I still to this day wish they made a live-action TV series of the entire Clone Wars instead. At least the CGI could have been put to good use on frequent battle scenes.

as far as the cast goes, i agree, but then again, most big new trilogies like this go with relatively unknown cast members and typically it pays off well.

At least with this they have learned from their mistakes in the prequels. Or at least I hope so.

As far as the cast goes, the originals are all I need (although I won't be shocked if they kill Harrison Ford in this one). I don't mind new actors, would have liked at least one established young person to be mixed in but it is what it is.

If that part is true (which I seriously doubt) then this movie definitely has potential. Episodes 1-3 were drowned in horrible CGI.

it is true, ill try to dig up some set photos , but they have built full size millenium falcons, xwings, they have animatronics and puppeteering for the non human characters, ect. theyve really made this a major point of emphasis

disney has proven big time that they are very capable of handling huge IPs and doing them justice

there is some quality talent. Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega have all demonstrated pretty strong acting chops in previous roles. the biggest question mark is Daisy Ridley who has literally no credits to her name other than commercials. She is an hbb though

Lets not act like there isnt bad animatronics & practical effects also, and its the same with cgi. If a big named movie has overly obvious cgi its because they were rushed or out sourced companies from india

We have the render tech for photo realistic animations and models, but most movies have a deadline of a year which just isnt enough time when it comes to perfecting cgi scenes. And the Cgi departments probably get even less time than that as they have to wait for the film to be passed over to them.

i like the medieval stylings but that saber really doesnt make too much logical sense unless the cross hilt part isnt lightsaber material
