"Be curious and never give up, however difficult things might seem. Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. It matters that you don't just give up." -Stephen Hawking

I feel pretty strongly about this too. Obviously services need to be paid for, but in a fair world, every citizen would pay the same amount: exactly what the services cost per capita. And if a man doesn't use a certain service, he doesn't pay for it!
Progressive, marginal taxes are thievery from the most upstanding members of society.
In fact, that they contribute more to society should mean they ought to be rewarded by paying LESS for services. Imagine that. A fair society would be the exact opposite of ours...instead we reward those with the poorest behavior and punish those with the best.Last edited by Tzaddiq; 11-25-2014 at 05:46 PM.

Add up your Federal tax, state tax, income tax, sales tax, gas tax, property tax, capital taxes and any other theft you may be subjected to and then come back to me
Trust me, if there was, I WOULD. Are you seriously gonna just throw insults like a child or are you gonna actually provide some substance?Last edited by Cesarbruh; 11-25-2014 at 06:04 PM.

It's selfish and entitled to halt your own exploitation?
Communal values should be thus: contribute by pulling your weight or leave.
You think they're less?
Add it up:
Federal tax
State/provincial tax
Property tax (it's in your rent if you don't own a house)
Sales tax
Gasoline/alcohol/gambling/etc surtaxes
+ EI you never collect
+ health plans that fat people use the most
+ mandatory pension contributions you'll never seeLast edited by Tzaddiq; 11-25-2014 at 06:00 PM.

Is all that needs to be said here.
Taxes go into maintaining and improving society (schools, roads, police, research, defense etc), and I am glad the government works in a way that makes everyone contribute to the greater good.
The problem lies in how the taxes are used, and how much taxes are actually needed. That's the main thing politicians argue, debate, and make proposals on, it is just very difficult to get everyone to agree to the same plan.
But thank God there are such things as elections in the USA, because if we see a mayor/governor/president/etc doing a bad job we can try to elect someone that has a better financial plan in the future.
I do not believe that the average person is smart enough, or even willing to contribute to the greater good on their own, so politicians are needed to help guide the masses, and the masses try their best to elect who best represents their needs and values.
Really isn't that bad of a system, yet to see any historical proof of any other system working better. (most countries that are consider 1st world follow systems really close to how the US is run, just with minor differences and different party names, but they all have taxes and elections.)

you could always go live off the grid and not pay taxes.
louis theroux has a documentary on it called "survivalists." these people live with their family off the grid, pay no taxes but still have fairly normal lifestyles.
check it out here

so OP if you're so passionate about it why dont you follow in their footsteps? or are you too big of a pussay

Lol come on man, don't fool yourself. We've had sh*t president after sh*t president, educated voters are a small minority in America.
inb4 into the wild, no thanks
lmfao you fking idiot, the reason why such a tragedy happened in Mexico is because of fken government. The reason why the cartel have the power and influence they do is because of government. American government policies are part of the reason why you country's suffering so much. But go ahead and praise us and bash those whose views would actually make your country and our country a better place.

Extreme claims. Can you back up those numbers?
Also, I don't remember ever spending 40% in taxes. I have all pay stubs and forms of income documented (Easier for tax return season).

i added up my federal tax, state income tax, property tax, no sales tax in this state. equal to 19.6% for me. thankfully this will be lower than that though, because i am getting most of my state taxes back plus a return on my federal tax.
i doubt alcohol, gasoline, gambling will add up to another 30%
