    There's nothing about power movements (clean/snatch) that is inherently bad for the knees.

    Unless you are pulling around your knees and banging them up with the bar instead of pushing them back on the pull, should be extremely less strain on the knees than in the squat variations.

    They have always bothered me if I do them very often. However, if I keep it to a minimum, then I do just fine. A lot of it will depend on your technique, though as already said.

    If you are catching with your knees near parallel I could see that causing more stress than a normal clean/snatch.

    I try to keep the weight at a point where I can catch it high like he does. If it is getting close to going parallel I will just add some more weight and do full cleans.
