That's absolutely spot on. Like any guy who was in the military will say, during your enlistment it sucks big time but when you get out and look back all you remember is the good times.
20180613:
Super busy day, so I just knocked out 100 total swings with the 24kg and did my Original Strength in the evening.
20180614:
Scheduled day off. I dropped by my friend's gym while on duty and got challenged to swing the 56kg while in uniform. Last time I tried I was in gym clothes and only did 3 reps - this time I knocked out a set of 10. Hard but doable.
20180615:
Pathfinder Selection Standard Test passed. 75 push ups in 2 minutes (minimum 55), 76 sit ups in 2 minutes (minimum 65), 12 mile timed ruck march with 30# ruck in 2:58:53 (minimum 3:30). It was hot out!

It's that feeling of accomplishment when you know you've pushed yourself. It's the type off thing that's much easier to do in a group or when someone is setting you a task ... much harder to push yourself when it's just you
So you got to play with a 56kg Kettle Bell? That's awesome, and killer effort to knock out 10 swings!"Better to wear out than rust out!"
Squat 165kg/363lbs
Deadlift 190kg/418lbs

20180706:
15 miles overnight with three other weirdos like myself, rotating a 50# sandbag every quarter mile. Three PT stops throughout the session. 1st was lunges, push ups, leg raises, and burpees 80 reps each. 2nd was 100 ruck push presses and lunges. 3rd was 100 squats, 100 flutterkicks, 500ft of bear crawls, and 500ft of crab walks. 7 hours of shenanigans.

Now there is a test!, Was the sandbag part of the whole picture for the full 15 miles? Aside from the carrying beat-down the burpees would totally tick me off. I dont know how you do that.
Was this in the woods? or just around an urban landscape. You must have run/seen some non-fitness "real" weirdos wandering around. Please record my time/reps if I pass out

It was a tough one, to be sure. Basically a mini event. Yes, we carried the sandbag the whole time. Between the four of us, it ends up being just under 4 miles apiece. Honestly the crab walks were what killed me - 10 rounds of 50 yards. I never like them to begin with, and my shoulder really doesn't like them so I went from actual crab walks to butt scoots near the end there.
This was actually all around town. We started off at the marina where we did the first workout, then we rucked along the shore until we were in a restaurant district and then hit the second workout. We then kept going, turned around, and did the third workout in the park next to the casino before heading back and finishing it off. Actually we were probably the weirdest folks out there that night, that we saw at least...

Yours looked pretty good to me too!!
20180714:
12 mile timed ruck march in AM, 3:14:07. New trail had a bit more elevation than I thought. Oh well.
In the PM, I did a ruck workout EMOM-style with three other people (two new to this type of training) and then we did some miles (I did a bit extra to get 4 miles in 1:14). 30# ruck.
And that's it. Just some light stuff until another GORUCK Tough and Light combo next weekend.Last edited by grouchyjarhead; 07-15-2018 at 08:09 AM.

Good work grouchy! Was that 16 miles in a day?!?!?!? Either way, that's intense and you lost me at waking up at 3:00AM to go ruck.

Yes sir. Between the overnight 15 mile deal and this one I should be ready for the two I'm doing this weekend. This one is in honor of those who lost their lives during Operation Red Wings, of which Marcus Luttrell was the only survivor. I have a laminated picture of one of the guys that I will be carrying with me (Matthew Axelson) as part of my little tribute.

Operation Red Wings Tough and Light completed.
For the Tough - we started at 2100 and finished around 0830. The main Cadre leading the event was a former MARSOC scout sniper. We started with the Murph challenge while wearing our rucks (substituting ruck swings for pull ups due to no place to do them) and then did some immediate action drills for fun (think short sprints dropping to the prone for distance if you are not familiar with the term). We then listened to some history and hit the road carrying a good ensemble of awkward items - we had logs, plates, water carriers, and so on.
Throughout the night we did about 19 miles (including the two from Murph) and the vast majority of them heavy. I was on a log every chance I got and once we picked up "the Monster" (a short thick log you could only one man carry and only over one shoulder that was so heavy we literally were counting 50 paces with it as our turns) I was one of the ones regularly switching out on it. Naturally we found our way in the water and had some fun there as well. Near the end as we were all going uphill we had some casualty carries as well.
Went home, ate, a quick PT shower, and slept for about 90 minutes before I was up and did it again for the Light which started at 1400. Did Murph again (this time no ruck for the push ups, squats, and run but still swinging) and then we did some relay races (sprints, bear crawls, crab walks, and the "Dizzy Izzy").
We then hit the road for over 5 miles, stopping down at the water again for some fun and then we walked to a nearby field and did some hill sprints and a sprinting game. We then rucked back towards the start point but stopped at a playground where we had to take the entire class up a slide, over a tube, and across the monkey bars with rucks. So we daisy chained the rucks and everyone worked together to help them across. We then went back to the start point, talked a while, and were done.
Great time. Met lots of good people and both events were solid teams. Upon waking up today - feet are fine, legs are smoked, a bit sore but otherwise solid.
