As others in this threads have pointed out, you are obligated to inform your professor of what she did. Simply email your professor, and give the details of what happened and why you suspect her for cheating. It's not even certain that your professor will go after her about it.

The way I understand it:

- Girl takes test, fills in wrong answer on scantron
- TA grades all scantron tests and photocopies them in current, graded state
- TA hands back tests to students so they can see scores
- Girl cheats by easing wrong answer, bubbling in the correct answer, and claiming that the scantron graded it incorrectly because of the eraser marks
- TA verifies by looking at photocopy: Old test has wrong answer and no eraser mark, current test has correct answer and eraser mark
- Bottom line, girl cheated

OP, you should tell the professor what you found because it is your job to do so. Ignore all other pieces of information in this situation: the bottom line is the girl cheated and tried to lie about it to get a better score. That is academic dishonesty and her professor needs to be notified. If he wants to ignore it, it is his decision.

To all of the others in the thread who are claiming "everyone has cheated at one point or another", please stop. No, not everyone has cheated before on tests, projects, etc. and it is dishonest to suggest otherwise.

2. Asking him to pass on the judgment call to the prof is a slippery slope, as it's not the prof's job to make disciplinary decisions either. He'd have to pass it on as well.
3. If OP simply tells her that the scantron copy doesn't verify her claim and that she can take it up with the professor, then he can't be held accountable. It's not his job to make a judgment call about cheating here. It's only his job to judge whether she has justified the regarding. In order to make a judgment call about cheating, he'd have to take additional steps (judge the accuracy of the photocopy etc). Also, OP, do you have her original scantron or does she currently have it? Everyone egging OP to rat her out doesn't get that academic disciplinary hearings can drag out the span of a year and force all available parties to participate. This likely wouldn't be the end of it for OP.

In fact, you can just ask her if she'd like you to take her scantron to the prof, because the photocopy doesn't match it. Then just watch her decline. This way she'll have the shame of both admitting to it and knowing she got caught.

edit: If she simply told you about this but didn't give you the original scantron, then you can't prove **** and she can just claim that she was speaking about something very different (different question etc) and you misunderstood.

Also, from what I understand, she didn't simply fake an eraser mark, but also ended up filling in the right answer afterwards. Correct? Otherwise, the story doesn't make sense.

Alot of miscers here seem to be overlooking the fact that OP could get fuked over in this situation if the professor finds out that he knew about this and let her slide. TA positions are really hard to get and he could be screwed out of a good job and a good job reference.

I take back my advice of letting her come clean and forgetting everything. If she then decides to take it up with the professor, you're fuked. Chit even if she continues with her story and op brings it to the professor, sloot could decide to take OP down with her and tell the professor about OP give her the option to walk free. Say absolutely nothing to the sloot and go straight to the professor is the only way to ensure you don't get fuked over.

If you do anything else but turn her in immediately, your putting yourself at risk. You have to look out for yourself in this situation, because I guarantee that if the positions were switched, she would do the exact same and not give a fuk about you
