Any of you have any familiarity with how Smulter trains? I'm binge watching his youtube channel right now, and I can't get a handle on it. I'm not interested in copying it, I just really like to learn more about how big benchers (especially bench only) train.

Well they are most definitely useful for me and the goal I'm trying to achieve with them. When I am peaking for a meet, I use the boards as a method to overload. Having a weight more than what I'm gonna hit in competition in my hands and going through some ROM works for me.

So you gotta see if that exercise works for you. Some people have short arms and floor press ROM will almost come down to their chest. I have long arms and only get like half my bench ROM when doing floor press. So my floor press is about equal with my TNG bench because even though I have no leg drive the ROM is so much shorter. So I'll throw in floor press and close grip floor press maybe once every 2-3 weeks for myself.

Stiff leg deadlift and deficit stiff leg deadlift I do more often since it works well for how I deadlift. I deadlift with a high hip and try to use a lot of hamstrings and lower back. So SLDL and deficit SLDL really help to build up those muscles and that movement for me. So I'll try to do them once a week. I think my best SLDL is 405x5 when I've deadlifted 405x10 with more in the tank.

Yeah the thread is gone. Luckily I was telling a friend of mine about it on FB and have the quote in my messages. "Someone with a certified Raven tested IQ of 127 in this case, so call me stupid all you like but my post graduate actuarial science qualifications speak otherwise."
Then after calling him out on how silly IQ is, he linked to some sort of business article about IQ.

I didn't know that type of argument took place with people over 13 yrs old.

People seem pissed about the new IPF fees (http://www.powerliftingwatch.com/node/29088), but this same discussion seems to happen every year. Any thoughts?
Personally, I understand why the IPF does it, and yeah, it happens in every major sport. But PL is a much smaller sport. IPF international meets are very high quality though and presumably $$ from equipment fees can help maintain that standard of quality.

All comes down to passing the cost onto athletes though. If equipment fees go up for IPF, anyone that buys Metal/Titan/Inzer/etc gear will pay for the increases....not just those using the IPF stuff and those competing in IPF. If they need more money for IPF meets, up the USAPL/IPF membership fees so that it doesn't cost strongmen more money to buy a damn deadlift suit.

I guess we'll see if it profits them, but thom makes a good point: if the IPF is charging $60,000 dollars for Metal suits to be IPF approved, perhaps Metal would be better off not paying it: IPF lifters aren't their only customers. If it is going to cost you $60,000 to even have the possibility of selling to a certain customer group, you better be making a ton of money from that demographic.

In the end, it may make more fiscal sense for Metal (or other companies) not to do the whole IPF approval thing. Then the number of fees the IPF gets will shrink as eventually only one or two companies will be IPF approved.

So, it's difficult to say how it will work out for everyone. If Metal bites the bullet, then it is good for the IPF, but Metal loses. If not, the IPF loses.

As thom points out, it's not just the IPF lifters who lose when this cost is passed down to the consumer. When the price goes up on an item, all the lifters who purchase it pay for it. Thus, Metal is likely not only shelling out a huge amount to the IPF for approval, but also make their entire product line less viable for lifters if they try to compensate for this loss by upping the prices of their products.

How do you feel about your new coach? The last time you guys grabbed a guy under similar circumstances you won a couple National Championships.
He's not Urban, that's for damn sure, but he's not Muschamp so it's a step in the right direction. Feels to me like a safety net pick that Foley went to early because of his ego. I think it'll come down to how well he and/or his staff recruit. He isn't going to outscheme good SEC defenses 5 times a year with inferior talent, and the bar needs to be winning the East at least 50% of the time. I think there were better guys out there but I'm happy that I don't have to watch another Muschampian offense ever again so I'll focus on that.

He isn't going to outscheme good SEC defenses 5 times a year with inferior talent, and the bar needs to be winning the East at least 50% of the time. I think there were better guys out there but I'm happy that I don't have to watch another Muschampian offense ever again so I'll focus on that.
Recruiting in FL 'should' be easy, but isn't the indoor practice facility an old barn or something? I don't understand the concept of a school like FL having the worst practice facilities in the SEC. What gives?

The other way this could go is that fees get walked up to a point where companies back out. Then IPF states that you can only have a suit that is three years old (or something like that). They get their players lined up paying the equipment fees, then grab more money from the athletes by having to buy gear more often.

It isn't right or wrong, but it certainly affects those outside the IPF and could potentially affect USAPL meet fees and member fees. Would really had to see the fed I support upping the expense of their big shows, just to pass it on to a guy who competes within a few hours of home. This same thing is happening in strongman. One sanctioning body is charging more and more to the athletes and is having larger contests (and pocketing money), the other is bare bones contests and very low cost. All a matter of what you want personally.

Not my first choice but atleast he has an offensive mind set. I'm not the biggest fan of how he does stuff but with the personnel we have it might be a good fit. Honestly it couldve been a bag of raisins and better than muschamp. I would take Ron zook and john brandtley over having that dick cheese being our towel boy. Also what I said about Kentucky getting better and lol half the coaching staff deuces.

For some reason I can't quote or multi quote right meow. He is definitely no urban but as said much worse choices out there. I'm happy that he will at least equalize our offensive to defensive recruiting. Its like no matter how deep at DB we were muschamp would only focus on that. I want a fast white QB and some black stallion RBs damnit!
