You gotta understand what the problem is and if that tool will give you the solution. I notice a lot of people going around saying board press are ONLY for geared lifters and useless for raw lifters. Well they are most definitely useful for me and the goal I'm trying to achieve with them. When I am peaking for a meet, I use the boards as a method to overload. Having a weight more than what I'm gonna hit in competition in my hands and going through some ROM works for me.

So you gotta see if that exercise works for you. Some people have short arms and floor press ROM will almost come down to their chest. I have long arms and only get like half my bench ROM when doing floor press. So my floor press is about equal with my TNG bench because even though I have no leg drive the ROM is so much shorter. So I'll throw in floor press and close grip floor press maybe once every 2-3 weeks for myself.

Stiff leg deadlift and deficit stiff leg deadlift I do more often since it works well for how I deadlift. I deadlift with a high hip and try to use a lot of hamstrings and lower back. So SLDL and deficit SLDL really help to build up those muscles and that movement for me. So I'll try to do them once a week. I think my best SLDL is 405x5 when I've deadlifted 405x10 with more in the tank.
I really like this, and it would settle 90%+ of internet arguements about lifting. Very rarely is something black or white, awesome in every instance or ****ty in every instance. All depends on you as an individual and where you are in training and your goals.

A friend of mine would take a long band and wrap it lengthwise down the bench. Works pretty well.

Edit: the guy quoting his IQ in the "OK to squat after throwing up" thread is really cracking me up.

Apply lax ball to glutes srs.

Tight glutes tend to pull the lumbar spine down, therefore causing pain.

Joe defrancos a limber 11 expands upon this concept.

lol. Beat me too it. I'm sort of thinking of playing around with semi-sumo after my meet just because i have the bodytype that supposedly is suited by it, long arms but even longer legs. Idk conventional is still most bad ass

if you lay over a foam roller, anchor your arms under a dumbell or something heavy, and then drop your ass to the ground you will ****ing hate life, but it will get you way better thoracic extension, if by feels like it's gonna explode you meant really stiff. No idea what your mobility is like now but lax ball glutes like was mentioned, some other of the defrancos stuff as well. Check mwod of course too.

Put a theraband around where you dig your upper back touches the bench. Buying a mesh rubber shelf liner to law over it works great also

I love the sht out of my theracane for digging into the muscles around my spine. That, and I've recently discovered dry needling, though that can be expensive.

Regarding the health club slippery benches, I used to loop a power band around the bench long ways and that used to provide enough friction

Got my Reeboks and they're a bit too small. Oddly enough the width is the problem.

How well do they break in? I can't be bothered to deal with Dutch customer service as a non-speaker so I think I'll just wear them as is.

He didn't even reference it as a reason people should listen to him. It was more like everyone calling his question stupid and he took it as everyone calling him stupid so he referenced his iq.

Anti slip drawer liner works well for me. I am always at different gyms on the road and a small cut of this stuff stays in my gym bag.

Speaking of slippery benches, this happened to me a few weeks ago
-always wrap 2 bands around the bench
-don't use a towel because it slides around
-always clean the bench after I finish with disinfectant/paper towels
-Big black PT comes up to me in the middle of my set asking me where my towel is
-Explain that I clean the bench after
-Gets super pissed and picks up my stuff telling me I need to leave
-Long story short I borrowed a towel from the reception for the rest of my sets and use one now

Was I in the wrong here? The PT is super chummy with other lifters that wear tank tops, don't use a towel and don't clean the bench.
