This is a possibility tomorrow pending if I get a chance to lift. It always feels more comfortable with oly shoes until I actually squat it. I think the shoes end up tipping me forward. I need a good amount of weight on the bar (for me anyways) to really show what I'm talking about. A plate or 2 makes little difference

One guy who comes from my town got in olympics. He is cross-country skier. He always acts up like he is the bomb, but in Olympics he got last place.
And in the gym he always takes off his short and does tricep pushdowns for 40 reps and thinks he's buff as fuk. All our gyms powerlifters laugh about him.

If it's an international event but the top 10 83kg Junior lifters are all from USA then should only the USA compete so we can watch the top 10? No.
There's a reason why it's meant to be an international competition. The top lifters will still be there. But if it means that some better lifters are missing then so be it. It's not exactly great if they call it IPF Raw Worlds and only two countries are competing, you dig?
Also, honestly, what is so wrong about being proud of your achievements, regardless if they're not great in the grand scheme of things? If I manage to make it I won't go around claiming I'm amazing because I competed internationally. But, as a personal goal, I'd be very happy regardless of how I'd do. I'm all for striving to be better and always being hungry/never satisfied but there's nothing wrong with taking a deep breath and thinking "damn, I've done well these past 5 years, that's awesome".

Well, it seemed like he was making a point. And I do get it and all, and I know that's how some feel, but still.
It's a decent film for some mindless fun. But, yes, obviously with a nobody actor instead of Denzel it'd be nothing.
Isn't that part of the attraction of powerlifting though? It's very personal.
It's not like most sports where what you do really affects someone else. Yes, you can take a bat to someone's knees in the warm-up room or maybe be tactical with numbers if you're close to someone but ultimately it's more about lifting as much as you can instead of what others do.202.5/135/245. What kind of truck is it? Is it in good shape otherwise? Replacing those might cost more than the truck itself is worth, but you should also consider the cost of a replacement vehicle. You might be able to find a used truck for cheaper than repairing your truck, but then you might be looking at something with higher miles and potential problems that could cost you more in the long run. If the truck is otherwise in good shape and well maintained, with a new motor you should get a lot of life out of it. Also, while you're at it, you could throw in a few upgrades.

Didn't realize his site was still up. He had a good thing for a while then took a lot of material down and took a break from posting anything. Now he's all out crazy?

Knee wraps vs. reverse bands for overloading the squat in a raw lifter... thoughts?

Anyone deal with hip cramping during bench press? Seems any benching with a decent amount of volume has my hips cramping trying to stay tight/use leg drive by the end of it. Do I need to do more hip stretching/flexibility work or is it a matter of strengthening my hips?
I'm going to lift heavy things until I can lift even heavier things.

I would go reverse bands. I don't know how much work you've done with wraps but if you're wrapping them right and tight, it's a very different feeling than without them or with sleeves. There's a learning curve associated with them and you learn to squat differently IMO.

I haven't squatted with wraps yet I was just curious. I've only ever used rev. bands in the past for overloading.
I hadn't thought about different form being a factor. I've only ever lifted raw without wraps (only sleeves) so I wouldn't consider myself to be that knowledgeable when it comes to anything outside of that.B. Kinesiology

I try to do it before benching but stretching after squat sessions is probably a good idea, too.
IMO, you lean to spring/be dependent upon them. I wouldn't dabble much with wraps unless you decided that you wanted to be competing with them or switch to them for your true squat work. Plus if you're using them right, they're an absolute bitch.
I'll have to try that stretch out. Thanks..I'm going to lift heavy things until I can lift even heavier things.
