congrats on progress.. personally I don't care what others are lifting so not trying to hate, but best suggestion I can make is to make sure your not reducing ROM to allow for more plates on the bar. If depth is good, keep doing what your doing.

I didn't mention form cause... well if your playing with 315 with unsafe form, that's just dumb.

Im not one for videos in the gym- but many on here get critiques and advise to improve by recording and posting. For me I have a few people who I trust to give good honest advice- (just make sure these people know their ****).

yeah as the other posters have said we'd like to see a video

I really hope no one here is ignorant enough to believe you actually squatted 315 5 times going parallel. but a video might convince them!

I'm under the impression that it was probably the same squat you always see. Knees flexing and hips not even moving because the ROM is so short. If I'm wrong then gj OP.

I'm willing to give OP some of the benefit of the doubt. I started lifting in July, and I was repping 135x5 on squats my first week and can now do 315 (I posted a vid about 8 weeks ago, I've made some small but measurable progress since), but some major possible differences:

    1. I used to workout a lot, so I wasn't starting from scratch.
    2. I probably could have done more than 135x5 my first week, but I was skerred of doms.
    3. I can only do 315x2 now, which is a far cry from 315x5.

But my point is that it's not crazy talk. My true 1RM in July was probably about 185 and I got up to a 315 1RM in about 10 weeks.

there not parallel but little deeper than quarter lol i had trainer spot me he says form is great.. hes ex competitive bodybuilder hes the one to push me to 315. i was 175 dropped 12 pounds in about 40 days strength didnt drop, hit 315 again today just for 1 set wasnt my leg day just wanted to hit it again it felt a lot better than yesterday. and i yes i may have started lifting 4-5 months ago but i was also infantry marine and did a lot of "humping" hiking with heavy pack and gear. i didnt work out in about 3 years after military so thats why when i started squat was only 135. it improved quickly. ill try to get a video maybe if there someone i kinda know in the gym ill have them film it im actually curios to see how deep i go..... trainer says im going deep enough but id still like to see. front squat is 205. for 8 reps. i dont really care for any one belief or not i know what i hit and im happy for it. thanks for the positive replies.

i lift heavy 4 times a week go to the gym 6 days a week and track food. its shouldnt be that hard to believe guys its called progressive overload.

If you aren't at least going to parallel you aren't squatting imo

When you squat down to take a **** in the woods do you only go down a quarter of the way? No, because you'll get **** all over the back of your legs. You go as low as possible.

Why do you need a spotter? It's not like you don't have safety bars... A guy at my gym the other day was claiming 405 x4, was expecting quarter double-team squat, left satisfied.

i lift heavy 4 times a week go to the gym 6 days a week and track food. its shouldnt be that hard to believe guys its called progressive overload.
I'm not gonna jump on the hate-wagon here but just because the trainer is an ex-bodybuilder (or even a current one) it does not mean that he knows sh!t about squatting properly. This is already proven quite nicely by the fact that he tells you your form is great, despite depth barely reaching half-way. He's the kinda guy that will hold you back.

It's not brother. Great squat for is to depth, hips below our knees. Not parallel and deft not lower than 1/4.

Drop the weight back down massive and hit depth each and every time. High squats will Fuk your knees up fast.

Also a former 0311, currently 0372 now a build leg strength the correct and proper way and save yourself the hassle of doing it wrong and possible knee injuries.

Great work, it shouldn't take you long to hit parallel on that weight since you've been making excellent progress since you were at 135. You could even drop 20-30 pounds for parallel and then get back up to 315 with it. Impressive lifts, I'm not there yet.
