Just wanted to thank you all:

A couple months ago I came in here worried about going to the gym. I had gained almost 100 lbs after college and was super nervous about being the 'fat guy' at the gym. Several members encouraged me to do it anyways, basically insisting that no one cares what someone else is doing at the gym (and they dont). So I sought out a gym/personal trainer. I actually grew up in pretty decent shape, was an athlete until college, etc. So you'll know I'm being honest when I tell you the most humiliated I've been in my entire life was having to do 'girl push ups' during my assessment test in front of tons of people.

I've only lost 16 lbs so far, so appearance wise not a lot has changed but my weights have increased dramatically. My trainer says 'muscles have memories' so I guess that's not totally surprising but anyways the entire point to all of this is earlier today I dropped down and belted out 10 push ups. When you're in the physical condition I'm in, it's hard to see progress but that let me know some stuff has changed, minus dropping 2% body fat. I know 10 push ups is almost sad to be happy about but I just wanted to drop by and say thank you to this forum for giving me the push I needed to seek help. I look forward to seeing where I'm at this time next year.

Thanks again, there's a great deal of helpful and sincere people here and you're all appreciated,

10 pushups isn't sad. You can only judge people by circumstance, and in your case you went from not being able to do one pushup to putting in the effort and being able to dish out 10. You should be very proud, the amazing effort means you now are in motion to do much more impressive things.
