Ask any racer. Any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile.

i was driving on an interstate once and there was a corvette behind me didnt pay any more attention than to see briefly there was a vehicle there in mirror, so im getting on the on ramp and there is a truck there but its going very slow like imo too slow so there was solid pavement but still the solid painted line anyways i hopped over the double because it was clear and i guess the corvette thought this showed i was like willing to drive recklessly or something so i get in the left lane doing maybe 5-10 over and suddenly the corvette is right behind me, quite close, i see its a woman driving, i move over to the middle lane when its clear and they go by me pretty fast, i got back behind them and was doing like 20 over the whole way, made it about 25 minutes the usual 40 minute trip then there is a spot where there is a big straight away and right in the straight the corvette just takes off ahead of me , literally seemed to double its speed and must have been going over 100 mph, i accelerated too and blow past a police car,, doing a u turn in the center grass, i am like fk fk fk i get to middle lane, pulse is pounding i think i am doomed, honestly i cant remember if they passed me from behind even or not but a few minutes later i drive past the corvette on side of road with 2 police cars and 1 undercover car behind it lol

Oh what a surprise, California.
Street racers are morons, but this is not murder. Guy should definitely be charged for driving recklessly, but the woman was capable of making the decision to partake in a dangerous activity.

Sadly I can see this happening. A guy I know from a car forum was racing his brother on the highway. His brother's car's axle locked up. Guy went across the road and hit an oncoming vehicle. Both drivers of both vehicles died... Luckily the idiot who died had let his kid ride with his bro that night. Idiot living brother still got prison time I believe. To make matters worse it was a family friend who died on my wife's side. Small world, but idiots will be idiots.

Except that's probably not the only definition of .murder in California's criminal code. Most states have some form.of joint undertaking laws. Not so different from laws where if two people rob a store and one person shoots someone, or if one of the robbers is killed, the other is charged with murder.
Thankfully in Canada there are constitutional requirements of subjective intent for a murder charges that prvent these types of cases.
