Question Are Advanced Lifters Also Able To Gain Strength And Size Doing Full Body 3x A Week?

I have been looking into this and all I have been seeing are that full body workouts are primarily for beginners. Has any advanced lifter experienced strength and size gains from doing A full body routine 3 times a week?

I dont do a LP fullbody, but I still do a fullbody 3x a week, powerbuilding focused. The strength gains are great, not the same as they were when I was a noob, but the muscle gains are coming in better than any 5x a week program I have been on.

no matter what program you're on the further you get from noob status the harder it is to gain size and strength. gains will come slower the more advanced you get. You'll still get them but not at the same rapid rate as you did when you first started.

I've been doing an upper/lower/full split for the past few months and it works out for me. I wasn't recovering well from multiple bench/squat sessions a week so I swapped to this and have been increasing strength with no issues. I think the most important thing is to be consistent and always have a way of progressing whether its work/time total volume total weight whatever. I swapped form going heavy regularly to going for rep records and using a full body strongman event day for a full body workout.

Full body workouts are what old school bodybuilders used, they would start with basic exercises then as there experience increased they would just keep adding in exercises to bring up weak points in there physique, however they would also spend 3-4 hours in the gym since there would be a ton of exercises each session, which is the reason splits were created.

Yes. Bodybuilders before the 90s do Full Body workout. Leroy Colbert is advising people to do full body workout, no matter what stage they are in.

You have your answer. Which is yes. Why must you ask a "advanced Lifters" to believe. Size = knowledge. There are alot of advanced lifters and yet not all of them know correct basic nutrition or workout program.

Advanced Lifters = 5+ years of PROPER training. Based on your post, You are not one of them and should not even be thinking about being advanced any time soon.

This^ is what i was getting at, based on the op's knowledge he is nowhere near advanced so he should not be worried about that just yet.

Alright ill answer your question, even though i believe you shouldn't be worrying about that prematurely.

The majority of intermediate and advanced bodybuilders nowadays use splits because it is much more efficient then doing a full body for 3-4 hours a day, doing 15-20+ exercises.

Laynes routine inspired my own. However it's not 3x a week - it's definitely more. Herein lies the problem, advanced lifter need more total volume than novice/inters. It would be quite hard to get enough into 3 sessions although I would say it's possible, just not the kind of thing someone who loves lifting would do unless their schedule made it impossible to do more.

The claim that fullbody 3x/week workouts are for beginners is misleading in that they may be best for beginners but they certainly aren't bad for advanced lifters. An advanced lifter's 3x fullbody workout will likely be much different from the beginner but they can certainly make progress with a 3x fullbody.

Split routines are just another method of training, ultimately whatever routine gives you progress gets you results
