I know most of you who have been training know this to be true. I am sure most, if not all of you have felt tired and unmotivated and your workout did not go so well and then there are other times when you were mentally focused and the weight just felt light and you felt like you can take on the world.
Well yesterday I had gotten some bad news on a job offer and I was sort of down and unmotivated. In fact the whole situation with this particular job has been going on for some days now and it has gotten so stressful I started getting heart palpitations.
So last night at the gym I could not get focused and everything felt like a ton. Not only did it feel heavy my joints/ligaments were hurting. Squatting was torture although I got through it. Deadlifting felt like I was trying to lift a house.
I went to get some water and I bumped into the dude that I had some beef with, not sure if you guys remember the short stocky dude who told me to put the weights back, ( We are kool now) and while speaking to him he smelled like straight up liquor. He wasn't drunk but he was definitely drinking liquor.
He asked me for a spot, he was on the smith machine doing Mil presses he had 4 plates 1 quarter per side and he banged out 5 reps!
I thought to myself, this guy is drinking and he is in here f'cking killing it and here I am training like a f'cking pussy. When I got back to my son/workout not only was my mental focus on point but I finished off the workout strong. BOR felt light, the bench felt light and so did the OHP.
I went from one extreme to the next and all it took was for something to wake me the f'ck up.
So here is to mental focus!!

I posted a seated shoulder press video over in the O35 pics/vids thread but no one seems real impressed. Must be because it's not a squat/bench/or deadlift vid.
I must have missed it, BH, but I thought you started a new job a few weeks back? I've been unemployed since mid March. Not many job postings and getting very frustrating. Over 10 years of business analyst experience and I can't find ****.-Squattin' in the curl rack.

I'm sorry it didn't work out. Being unemployed really phucks with one's sense of pride. I use indeed.com for my job search engine. It pulls from all the job boards and most employer's sites. My problem is that I am too far north of Atlanta where the bulk of the jobs are. If I were to commute into ATL i'd be looking at a two hour commute each way and I'm not going to subject myself to that. Alpharetta, GA is my best chance of finding something in my field and there's just not much happening right now. I try to stay positive but I never anticipated it would take this long, and with the holidays right around the corner there's no hope in sight.
