Cold spell going on in my city the past few days, minus 20 a lot of the time. It is causing some pain in my toe joints, years of gout have left my toes pretty sensitive to cold. but its easier to sleep if I don't jack the heat up.

eggs and bacon lunch, came home and did more squats, rows, pushups. was cooking up the ground beef and canned veggies and spinach but some of the beef went bad so it wasn't as much as I would have liked but if I get hungry I will grab some almonds or something

A more quiet day, got home from work and there was a lot of discomfort and burning sensation in the mesh implant area, so I mostly laid down all evening. I dont want to tear anything, so if it hurts, I try and sleep it off

How do you change the title of a thread? I would like to change the title of this one.

Thursday was the same, starting to bump into the feelings of craving carbs and so now its more meaningful when I choose to not have them. I don't want to go all-out from the start but I want my body to lose weight gradually and steadily, so I want to find that sweet spot. So I am now just hitting the point where my body is learning that if it wants fuel, I am going to give it non-carb fuel at least half of the time.

Checked my weight Friday morning, and down 3 pounds, so things are getting started. Its tempting to try and have that whoosh at the start where you drop like 12 pounds, but its not that big a deal for me right now. The plan is to do a little more calisthenics this evening, and get lots of good bed-rest this weekend.

Just an easy Saturday. Snowing all day. Hiding under my blanket. Saturday is also the best day to catch up on sleep. I have heard some people try THC in such situations to help with insomnia, now that Canada has legalized it, and people in smokefree apartments like mine use drops, but I also hear for a lot of people they do nothing and have no effect. Thankfully, none of this applies to me as I would still like to be able to cross the US border so this paragraph about the thc drops not working at all is NOT ME. You hear me US Border authorities? NOT ME. That person saying the drops don't do crap and were a waste of money? NOTME. Those hypothetical Redcan Reign drops, 30:0, that were nil effect? NOTMEEEEE. FBI, don't you be watching meeeeee

As a true northern friend to MURICANS, I stick to alcohol and designer pills, the way the pharmaceutical industry prefers. Much more healthy. Yup, just half a bottle of Nyquil and a hit over the head with a sock with a doorknob in it, that's all I need, yessir

But insomnia is an issue for sure these days, sleep an hour, have to get up, sit there for 15 min, lie back down, repeat, all night. By Friday I am trashed.

In the evening I did my calisthenics: squats, pushups, inverted rows. Concentrating on the squeeze, letting my body know what lies ahead in a few months. I feel I rushed it last year after the first surgery, so my thought this year is be ultra conservative, and just do BW work and cardio until 6 months post surgery before I go back to machines and free weights. We will see.

Cooked up a bunch of ground beef and spinach, divided it up, probably wont survive to Monday lol, might have to go for groceries again in a snowstorm.

Sunday was easy, living off precooked food, napping. pushups and squats and inverted rows in the evening

Monday I added in cardio to the mix, just 15 min of exercise bike at lunch at work. So Monday I did my 15 min at lunch. Came home in the evening, saw a note from the bldg. management: a neighboring unit reported cockroaches, so everyone has to get treated, plus steps on how to prep. ****

So Monday night I threw out all my food and 95% of my toiletries, lol. It might be over the top, but my place is dry now, not even a jar of mustard to my name. Just a box of salt is left. If I could, I would burn my apartment to the ground and move into a fresh one, lol. Still on the fence about moving. then did some pushups and went to bed. And by bed I mean never sleeping again, insomnia loves paranoia. I haven't seen a single bug since the carpet worm a year ago, my place gets a professional top-to-bottom once a month, the cleaners haven't seen a bug, but I am not playing. I still have my toothpaste and deodorant and tp and shampoo, I'm not nuts.

This means for at least a month now, I am going to eat out, and if I eat out at home, the trash goes immediately down the garbage chute, no leftovers, no saving up trash so I can fill a bag, nothin.

Tuesday I did my lunchtime cardio, came home, did my pushups and squats and rows, and emptied out all my cupboards and drawers, washed the inside of all my cupboards, pulled out the fridge and stove, washed behind them. Place is now fully prepped, as per the note.

Wednesday (today), I am having the cleaners come in for a one-time top-to-bottom scrub. For peace of mind. F this.

    Hello!

So, fitness has taken a bit of backseat as real life has forced me to assume a state of somewhat homelessness.

Cleaners came by, they saw nothing, exterminators came by and they saw nothing, but then they sprayed a gel which they told me will ATTRACT roaches. then they take the gel back to the nest like its food, and eventually they all die. they also left a few sticky pads as traps near the pipes.

    uh...

So, no food in my place. BUTTTTT I also didn't want to sleep there. So I found a cheap hotel right across the street from my workplace (I call it the dirtbag hotel), and have been crashing there. like that episode of rescue me when Denis Leary rents that dirtbag apartment and just crashes there for no reason. So, during the week, I do my job, after work I kill time in a local bar, and then the alcohol helps me sleep when I lie down at the dirtbag hotel. its not a real fitness experience, more of a weird austere survival experience.

Tried flirting with the waitress, lol. Shes like "what are you doing this weekend?" I'm like "I don't know, Im just staying here temporarily for work, wanna show me around?" (lies, I live here)

    "where are you staying?"
    "Its right nearby."
    "oh, the blablahblah?"
    "no, the blabla"

Then her face scrunched up in disgust, I think she knows its the dirtbag hotel, lol. That killed the momentum. Yelp reviews will tell you that you're likely to get ROBBED at this hotel, so I don't leave anything of value, just a change of clothes. Anything I don't wanna lose, I leave at my work office.

But this is all temporary. On the weekend I come back to my real home and look around. Saturday I did a sweep for bugs, found nothing, Sunday I did a sweep for bugs, found nothing. The exterminators say if I don't see anything after 2 weeks, then its over. I doubt I will stay more than a week at the dbag, if I don't see anything past the midpoint of this week, I might try sleeping at home again. It just grosses me out.

So I re-occupied my place on Thursday, and had the cleaners come back and clean again.

I still have to leave the gel in place until March, but that's coming fast. So, no food in the house, living off takeout, which isn't great for overall health. But otherwise, getting back into it. My weight pretty much stayed in place during the whole hotel-stay.

Decided this week that since I eat dinner then nothing until I make it into work, I am fasting at least 12 hours anyways, so I am going to take it a little further and do the 16/8 intermittent fasting.

Monday (today), did some pushups and inverted rows in the morning, and some cardio at lunch. I have been having some tendinitis in my right Achilles, one morning I woke up with a big lump and it took all day of ice and advil for it to go down. I still limp a lot, I need to get that under control or the inflammation will get worse. I limp more these days because my arch supports don't seem to be hitting it out of the park, but its still a habit I need to get out of

    Hey!

No big changes, still 16/8 IF and some bodyweight stuff when I wake up and some cardio at lunch. I think the routine is working, my energy has been up a little bit lately. Not terribly exciting as a workout journal, but I think this can be important for me journaling my way back from multiple surgeries.

    Hey, hows it going?

So, February is finally over, and I have the all-clear to forget about the pest control problems and get on with my life. I am going to have the cleaning service wash the gel out of my cupboards, but probably wont mention there is gel to them lol, I don't want to be charged extra to clean pesticide. They are coming in a week or so, I need to doublecheck.

16/8 IF is going ok, in that it feels comfortable and energy is good and cravings are low, in other words it is sustainable as far as eating windows go. Some mornings I am starving out my ass, but that is manageable. So the windows are fine, I just need to finetune my diet. I was up a few pounds last Friday and had been pretty bloated, and modified my diet so that it is more like 50%+ veggies, and tightened up on the carbs a lot. I figured with my eating window shortened, its even more important to stay regular. I may feel fine, but I cant lose weight if I don't poop. I made those changes a few days ago and my energy level hasn't tanked, my cravings aren't worse despite chopping carbs, and I am MUCH more regular, so hopefully that is the right balance for me.

My boss at work is on-deck for an urgently scheduled triple bypass, so I assume work will get busier if I have to pick up some of his workpile. He might be under the knife in about a week, no date given yet.

My neighbour above me is starting to become unbearable. For over a year now I walk on eggshells trying not to make too much noise or he pounds on my ceiling BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM. I'm like John Krasinski in that horror movie, living my silent life and always putting my index finger up to my lips to tell people not to wake the monster. I listen to music in my headphones even though I live alone, I keep the volume on my computer to about a 2/10 and have to sit less than 2 feet away to watch tv. Its very stifling to my freedom, and flies in the face of why I like living alone. On Saturday at 11 am I am surfing on my phone not making any noise and he still pounds on my ceiling BAM BAM BAM BAM BAM. So I figured enough is enough, I lodged a complaint (turns out he has never lodged a noise complaint against me so woops, I have all the leverage now buddy). I was promised he wont pound on my ceiling again, and I guess now if he thinks I am being too loud, he can call the 24 hr bldg. security to come listen at my door with an empty waterglass or whatever and he can be revealed for the hairtrigger psycho that he is. Go back to the Overlook and keep typing on your typewriter there, Jack Nicholson, I am tired of your crazy.

Wow, what a difference since last time I posted! The whole world is different.

Since cleaning up my diet, I have been more consistent with the weight loss, dropping 3-4 lbs a week. The diet was good before calorically, but I needed more fibre.

Got my life in order, my home is in good shape, no pests, etc etc, but now the world has pests. Every social activity is shutting down, my office is making plans on converting to every single person in the office working from home, I am making plans to live without toilet paper, I cant get packages delivered any more unless I am right there to physically receive them, the leader of my country is in quarantine, and his spouse has tested positive, we're at times taking it too seriously, but it must be taken seriously.

    Everyone stay safe!

Hope everyone is taking care of themselves and each other out there.

Being confined to my home this past 9 days has proven to be a challenge with the 16/8 IF. Getting in those veggies is very important for me, and I will have to dial my calories down now that I am a lot more sedentary. My weight stayed constant this week so I have to find a new balance.
