Reveille weed hoppers....
Is anyone going to try to view the Jup-Sat conjunction?
I may have a clear enough view to get lucky.

Should any of you take any pics (especially having a magnified view) please feel free to treat us.
Have a great day and a great Christmas with family/friends.

Another aerospace themed post...
Somehow I missed this the other day
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-55721587. Interesting to see satellite launch from a rocket carried under a 747
This has some interesting defence implications and especially interesting to see placing satellites this way since air launch has became the defacto anti satellite method while laser etc is still a work in progress (ASAT -- Russian https://www.thespacereview.com/article/3931/1 US https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASM-135_ASAT or less details China https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/ASAT_program_of_China)

Meh... All the space stuff is just filmed in a warehouse outside of Las Vegas. I read that on the internet.
Edit, if this space thing does turn out to be genuine, the good news is they will try to catch a Martian
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File...r-20200714.jpg
You can clearly see the gun in the top left of the rover (below big camera). The plan is that it will slowly trundle across the surface of Mars for 2 years making duck calls. If a Martian breaks cover it'll bag one!Last edited by OldFartTom; 02-19-2021 at 01:04 AM.

Pluto is a planet, then it isn't, then it is again? Science is like politics, believe what you want.
Science lost it's way when it confused theory with facts. They so bad want to be right.Last edited by jellodirt; 02-19-2021 at 07:26 AM.

No joy for me either in the PNW - was cloudy although not completely. Was out before sunrise but only for a few minutes. was hoping to see some fireworks.
It's never too late!

Howdy OFT and Pep....
Same here....nothing but cloud cover.
I had the same lack of luck during the Jupiter event a couple months back.
Why can't the cosmos perform these events during the summer!
Have a great day all....

Goodness me, watched about half the video, seemed a lot of nonsense desperately trying to sound very clever. Whatever the answer to warp drive? it wasn't in that video. Thanks for posting though Steffo.
After watching someone trying to sound so clever I felt the need to watch something that is not trying to be clever. This is engineering not science so not sure if it will incur the wrath of Wayne for posting
This is a MotorHorse and it might just be the future of personal transport
And showing you how to build your own MotorHorse, follow this video

Wayne, you're a Jarhead, what do you make of this technology
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-56979994
I'm thinking... great so you board a ship like ironman, you land on the ship, someone aims at you. At that moment you realise you have jets strapped to you hands and you can't shoot back. Seems like a great way to board friendly ships???

Well howdy OFT....
Would I love to try one?....absolutely!
I think it's one hell of an invention and a worthy addition to the military for the purpose of boarding ships in non threatening/peaceful applications only.
Also great for recon work and mapping of areas, military or otherwise.
As you infer, if there is no 7.62mm weapon (loved my M14) he can trigger it's a death trap because you still have to focus on navigating oneself.
Even then, a 7.62 still has some recoil and that could further prove it may have little efficacy in a hostile situation.
With regard to my experiences (13 months in the jungle) one would only make oneself a fine target for those hostiles on the ground.
Of course, they'd probably hear you coming too and the shooting gallery would have their fun.
That's my quick take so maybe I'm missing another negative aspect in an offensive scenario.
Thanks for chiming in (on spread for contribution)
Have a great day everyone....Last edited by Wayne Evans; 05-05-2021 at 08:46 AM.

Jupiter, large gaseous planet. The big spot was first seen when optics/telescopes started getting good about 300 years ago. The great spot is a storm and about 1.5 times the size of earth...
And the point of this great spot post? I just read it's getting smaller and estimates it might be gone in about 20 years time!!!
