I've never been interested in any TV series because of the typical cheesy acting, poor script, snore-worthy story lines, slow pace and commercials.
Never cared for any sitcoms either and still don't.
Admittedly, I'm not easily impressed and my wife is not nearly as critical. (painfully obvious as she married me )
We signed up for Netflix about a year ago and I thought I'd peruse Netflix for some that may have interest potential solely because of no commercials.
To my surprise, I found a few worth checking out that I thought Cindy would enjoy also being action, good guy/bad guy, fantasy genres.
Here's a few that we've been enjoying together:
Burn Notice: I liked it and we finished watching that one some weeks ago. Cindy liked it enough to purchase the series. (I take the blame)
Numb3rs: It was OK even though I got weary of Charlie getting too verbose with his over the top expertise (part of the show's premise/emphasis) too often and wasn't totally
enamored with all characters. The pace of the show kept me interested enough although not quite as enjoyable as Burn Notice.
Once Upon A Time: we'll be watching the last two episodes of season 3 tonight. The filming technique confused me at times but Cindy really liked it so that was good enough for me.
Arrow: season one kept my interest pretty well and season two we'll start next as we just got the email it's on now.
One's that are in queue next for us to try:
Blacklist
Leverage
Agents Of Shield looks like it could be entertaining enough to check out when Neflix offers it.
I know nothing of these three but only heard they were pretty good.
I see no others offered at this time that are grabbing me.
Oh....I did try Dexter some time ago but it just didn't keep me interested.
Even though I may find a few criticisms here and there the real pay-off is just spending some relaxation time with the wifster after her hard day's work and dinner. (I'm retired)
That's my take on it.....from the critic's corner.....carry on.

Blacklist is good.
It has a certain darkness to it. Spies. Murder. Corruption. What more can you ask for?Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. – Thomas Jefferson

Not sure if the content differs this side of the pond but the most popular series by far is Breaking Bad.
I watched all five series in the space of around three weeks. Started a little slow but the character change of Walt over the course of time is just pure genius.Accept difference. Not indifference.

Brackneyc.....
I'm not gripped by the context but there are many favorable reviews out there.
It'll will go into the queue....thx for commenting and I'm on spread.
Caersura75....
I'm thinking the content would be verbatim here.
Lots of good reviews but the story line just does not interest me....thx.USMC: 1965-1969

If your into political type shows house of cards is very well written and acted.
Highly recommend giving breaking bad a chance
Orange is the new black is very good
The killing was a show I hadn't heard muc about but it was on Netflix and I gave it a try. Very good show IMOIt's not your beliefs that make you a better person, it's your behavior.

SP1966 & frozensparky...
OK....I read the story line reviews again even though the plot doesn't grab me.
I'll put it in queue (along with Orange) because of your endorsements plus I may not look good awash in crimson.
Olive green is my favorite color.
No...don't care for anything political.
Thanks....Last edited by Wayne Evans; 10-09-2014 at 02:07 PM.

The Wire
The Shield

The Wire was fantastic. I haven't noticed it on netflix yet but would watch again one day. Fairly political though but a good police/crime drama all the same. I just started Happy Valley after my wife recommended it and I'm hooked so far. Orange is the new black is quite good too.

Lots of things out there are good for the first season, decent for the second and then it just goes downhill. The mark of good writing is when it is still good after 4, 5 or even 10 seasons. IMO The Wire actually got better with each season; McNulty was developed brilliantly.
I think off the top of my head
West Wing 7 seasons
Prison break 4
Bones 9 or 10
The Wire 5 (I think)
The Shield 5 or 6
Somebody mentioned Dexter and I thought that was good for the first 3 (maybe 4) seasons and then it just all went wrong.Last edited by DuracellBunny; 10-09-2014 at 02:35 PM.

It's slightly different. You have Downton Abbey, we don't.
I watch so many shows on Netflix! It's geek paradise LOL and we don't have TV.
I got hooked on Lost, Buffy, Angel, Arrested Development, the IT Crowd, the Witches of East End, Gossip Girl, Trailer Park Boys, Revenge, Supernatural, The Guild. Currently watching Vampire Diaries then moving on to The Originals (yes, I have weird taste).
If you want a true modern French crime show, watch Spiral.
It's really graphic and gritty. Violence is pretty raw. Hard to think my parents let me watch this kind of thing when I was 12. My own teen couldn't stomach it.
It's a really good show!** Marie **

Watched first two episodes of Arrow season two last night.
We enjoyed them....I like the story line and characters so far.
Episode two had Micheal Jai White and Kelly Hu as a couple of villains.

Ooops. I just remembered that Vikings isn't on Netflix.
http://whats-on-netflix.com/other/is...ng-on-netflix/
Season 3 just started airing. IMO they have been been able to maintain the quality level. I love that show. Why start with season 2?There will come a day when I tire of listening to 80's music. That day is not today.

Top of the mornin'....
I did notice S3 had started a couple of days ago so maybe it will maintain the 'quality level' you refer to for subsequent seasons.
I just don't care to DVR it and have to forward through the commercials.
I don't mind waiting until Netflix offers it.
I agree....I dig that series.

I'm a fan. Met him this weekend at a bodybuilding show here.
A few more-
Under the Dome
Castle
Firefly (BEST SCI FI EVER....cancelled after like 11 episodes)
Falling Skies
Blacklist is very good. The pilot episode was among the best TV I've seen.
edit: ^^ Justified. Its not fast paced but dammit it is addicting.
Not sure if my suggestions are on Netflix, just brainstorming my faves."Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him."
