Bumping this from 6 pages back. Aaron Hernandez documentary worth the watch. Started slow, but the soap opera pays off.

I might check this one out even although the "soap opera" description makes me sleepy.
I did see an hour special on AH last year sometime but I can't remember what show it was.....I want to say Autopsy: The Last Hours Of AH"....but, I'm not sure.
Hope all are doing well in 2020 and thanks to all for chiming in....greened all that I could.

I have been watching on and off "Messiah". Kind of intriguing, it's set in the present day with some guy that starts getting attention about being the returned messiah (hence the title). He attracts attention from Israel and the CIA, because he gets quite a following, but is he really the messiah or an impostor?
I heard it triggered some religious folks, me not being religious I didn't feel triggered.
The problem I have with any film where there's a messiah, a guru or whatever is that they mostly say very little, of very little importance (but with very thoughtful, wise expression and tone of voice). People ask them questions like "why are you here" and "what are we supposed to do", and he answers some vague "I'm here to do god's will", "god has a plan" and "you'll know when it's time" etc. Basically really dull stuff that doesn't tell anything new, but people are awestruck by those really dull answers for some reason I don't understand. So it usually leaves me scratching my head on why all those people follow them. But that's just me.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

Finished 'Witcher' earlier this week. I'd give it a solid 8/10 but I'm a PC nerd and played the PC game years back.
Wife started watching with me and got bored till she saw Henry Cavil shirtless in the sauna and suddenly 'her interest' spiked back ..lol.
But I liked it (GoT fan here). It's little cheesy but look forward to Season 2.
Side topic..started watching the "Outsider" on HBO and it's really good. Based on Stephen King's book so a touch of supernatural.________________________________________________________

It's in my list and will probably start watching tonight.
Saw this in the theater and hated it, yes the acting was decent but every single character was despicable and nothing to like.
I enjoyed The Do Over with Sandler and David Spade, had a handful of scenes that made me actually LOL."You know that little thing in your head that keeps you from saying things you shouldn't? Yeah, well, I don't have one of those."

Rectify. It's a ''slow burn,'' but really getting good. I'm only on season 1 - a few episodes in. It's a bit heavy, I don't watch many prison series/shows, so there is a lot of flashbacking into the main character's past, to his former prison life. But, I like that it has an investigative side to it, which keeps it balanced. And it shows his family adjusting to him coming back to live with them...he was only 17 I believe, when he went in. So, in some ways, he's still interested in teenage things, since that's where his life left off.
It's not really a series based on prison life, don't mean to summarize it like that - it's about a guy who was freed from prison due to new evidence coming forth, 19 years later. So, he was on death row for a crime he supposedly didn't commit, for 19 years. But, many in the town don't consider him exonerated, so they're opening the investigation back up, to put him back in prison. I'll be curious to see if he actually did the crimes he's accused of, or served all that hard time for nothing.

Night on Earth
Nature Documentary. They use super high tech cameras to watch what animals do at night, in the jungles, in the ocean etc. Stuff that no one has ever seen before, must have cost a fortune. Today I was done with the Human Race and thought I would take a nap watching this, nope, totally captivated for 3 hours and looking forward to more. Nature can be downright scary.

Just started Loke & Key, so far it's promising. The 1st time we hear the voice from the well was pretty creepy. The teenager kids are bland as f. I hope they keep the teenage stuff to a minimum.

Just a heads up, if you have a Roku, the Roku channel is streaming 10 HBO series in their entirety until 5/15. I'm 3 episodes into the Sopranos, my wife is watching 6 feet under and we're both gonna watch The Wire which we've never seen.

Waco
Wow. I remember when this went down but didn't follow it really closely. This is based on a book by the lead FBI Hostage Negotiator on the scene and tells a super compelling story of a massive Government screw up and coverup. I'm not swallowing the whole story as told but when the entire US Government cant save a single kid out of 25 inside that compound, it makes you wonder.
Definitely worth the watch, I didn't feel the Koresh actor at all though, just didn't have the magnetism I would expect from a cult leader. All the other acting was on point, especially the kids.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Not a series but Seinfeld has a new comedy stage special on Netflix. He's not as brilliantly funny as he was when he was younger but his talking about marriage and kids had me and my Wife cracking up pretty good. Definitely a good one to watch with your spouse.

I watched "Hollywood" and I must say it was meh. I love, love, love anything to do with the golden age of Hollywood, but this just didn't do it for me. Even if the plot is poor, I can usually enjoy the scenery and the handbags. But this was really cheaply done.
Then I watched Self-Made: The Story of Madam CJ Walker. I liked this. It's the story of the first African-American female entrepreneur millionaire. I know most like the "rise and fall" stories, but this is just the "rise" story. Her descendants say liberties were taken with the facts, but I enjoyed it.No drama: You know where we are.
