Epstein: Filthy Rich
3 part series really digging into the life of Jeffrey Epstein. Really engaging but now I feel like I have more questions than answers. The guy is a college dropout but is entrusted with great wealth of the uber rich and becomes a Billionaire just from making them money, all in a 30 year career. The greatest swindlers in Wall Street history never approached that amount of wealth, yet this guy who is constantly busy with underage girls does it legally? Hmmm...I'm thinking he was more of a sex trafficker than anything because no "investors" are coming for his fortune, $577 million at his death.
My wife was disagreeing with the "conspiracy theorists" saying his death wasn't a suicide, um LOL. You don't die by your own hand when you got enough dirt on high profile people to buy your way out of the slammer.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

Finished watching the 1st season which was 10 episodes of Warrior Nun and I liked it, there were a few parts where it slogged down a bit which happens to most shows but overall it's well done and the ending left you wanting for more as it had a hell of a twist.

New season of "The Dark" started, now on top of 3 time lines there are 2 separate universes. Requires some paying attention.
I have been bingeing on "Penny Dreadful", I'm on the 2nd season now. Basically take all the Victorian era characters and novels and mash them together: Dracula and Dr Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and Dr. Jackyll. The result is a bit all over the place but it keeps me watching. Season 2 is a bit too "woke" for my taste (why oh why do they have to stick woke bullchit everywhere these days?) but I'll manage.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

I'm on the 2nd season of Hell on Wheels.
It's a gritty series about building a cross country railroad after the Civil War. Got freed slaves, North and South soldiers, Irish, Scotts all trying to work together whilst being attacked by various Indian tribes. It's not a happy, politically correct history lesson, it's pretty gory and shocking. Staging, sets, acting all 10/10. Gonna binge this until it jumps the shark.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.

I have really been enjoying Ratched. Very different from the film. The clothes, accessories, sets, are fabulous! Strong mostly female cast including Judy Davis and Amanda Plummer who are terrific.
Some scenes are pretty creepy and gruesome, and I tend to watch those through splayed fingers. No drama: You know where we are.

I'm finishing up watching "The Haunting of Bly Manor" and enjoying it quite a bit. This is supposed to be the not-sequel to "The Haunting of Hill House" in the sense it's a completely unrelated story (hauntings aside) but several actors from the 1st season are coming back. Much like each season of "American Horror Story" is done. I loved the 1st season and I am loving the 2nd. Not gory scary horror, more like a tense ghost story.
It's set in an English country estate, the couple that owned it died and left behind 2 adorable/creepy children and their uncle is looking for a live in nanny. It doesn't help that the 1st nanny hired for the job killed herself in the estate pond. Like the 1st season it's well done, with high production value.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

We liked that one too but it didn't get funded for too many seasons....maybe (2) only.
Has anyone watched "Jean Claude Van Johnson"?.
It was OK but not one I'd revisit anytime soon.
I like JCVD kick-azz movies but he's getting old.
A mini-series and a bit quirky from my POV.
If you're a fan it would be OK one time.
Hope all are doing well.....thanks for chiming in.USMC: 1965-1969

Started watching "1983", so far so good. It's a Polish series but you can watch it dubbed in English.
The premise is "we all know 1984 but what came before that?" So it's an alternate modern Poland, and something happened that plunged the country into a dystopian dictatorship. With the excuse of investigating an old crime, the story of what happened is slowly revealed.
Given Poland had both the Nazis and the Soviets, I was curious to see their take on what a modern dictatorship would look like. It's not immediately clear if it's a Nazi or Commie dictatorship, which may in fact be the point, since the 2 boil down to pretty much the same.
For now it seems like an interesting series.Follow my 2018 competition prep here:

This is on Amazon Prime.
The Americans.
Russian spies planted in America during the Reagan Administration. Acting is great, story is great, what's best is the old-timey spy stuff with tiny reel to reel tape recorders and poison and antidote stuff.
There's a bit of drama as the spies fall in love but have to screw other people in the line of duty.
I'm enjoying it, watched the first season in like a week.Don't put that on me Ricky Bobby, don't you ever put that on me.
