In November, 1970, in Florence, Oregon, the carcass of an 8-ton whale was exploded using half a ton of dynamite.

The deceased whale had washed ashore a few days prior, and the local authorities believed that the blast would propel its remains out into the ocean.

However, the outcome turned out to be quite different. Instead, large chunks of whale blubber showered down onto the beach, and the entire incident was recorded on camera.

Great videos. Louise, I remember that and it was a great example of how to not get rid of a whale on the beech.
