Stick welding 2" pipe with a thick wall at a 45 degree vertical angle. The tight curve is what's making this difficult. 6010 rod for the root, 7018 for fill and cap

Sorry to hear that Dan. Maybe knock out some CC courses in the mean time, and then once you're all set financially jump over full time to a university.
On the subject of bikes, anyone have any opinion on these PSIs? Q3s 34 front and 22 rear. Thinking I'm going to ride tomorrow and not sure if they might be running a little low. I know they'll increase when they heat up, but the rear seems a little low (I think?)***Knee Draggers Unite***

It's all good. All 1st and 2nd year apprentices have to weld at night. After I'm a 3rd year, I start my service classes(which is what I currently do..hvac service and repairs). My boss is sending me to the building automation classes and also through a tech program starting in may. So things are heading the direction I want them to, just have to please the government with training hours at this point. Which is why I'm stuck welding.

never did pipe. old man had me stick welding by about age 8. always hated chipping off the slag.
personally always hated TIG. for me i was too used to mig and stick where your electrode is your filler and just very hard for me to get the handle of TIG's 2 handed req's of separate filler rod. i did it at a chopper shop for 1 week with his fancy water cooled machine and got decent at it, but metal had to be perfect, electrode had to be ground at exactly 45 parallel, etc. MIG is much more forgiving for a caveman like me.
34 ft, 22 rr? i usually run 37 rr/34 front on the s1k, did the same on the ape. pilots in case it's relevant.Axe, author of "No Limits - No Regrets"

I never struck an arc before I started apprentice classes at 20 years old, so I guess I can't complain. I've progressed so fast, but I also put a lot of effort and time into it even though I don't have to. As a service fitter, I'm required to pass the first two tests before I'm a journeyman (after a 5 year apprenticeship), and I'm a 2nd year with 4 tests completed with one to go.
This is the hardest test by far, because it's the one that will allow you to enter a power plant and weld.Everyone can talk chit on the internet until they encounter a 6'7 framed Dorian Yates barndoor boeing747 turtle back freak of nature who drives over 200+ on the autobahn

can't speak to track specs, but most road specs show the rear a few psi higher, at least on what i've seen/read. modern tires seem a little higher than the old ape had posted on it 14 years ago too. even if not riding 2up, i still put it higher by 3 psi in back. just me i guess.
from innerweb:
tire pressure setting "S1000RR" Tires. ... the manufacture setting was 42 rear and 36 front, i thought it was little bit hairy with that ride out today.
it's definitely one of those things you can get good at it if you're doing it enough. i'm sure for power plant cert, they want you on top of your game. never even heard of different filler rod on the same weld. always thought you picked the rod closest to the substrate so you had as homogeneous (nohomo) material as possible providing your HAZ was minimized, etc. good luck man.

People run less air in the rear? Wot? Can someone pls explain?
Pricing tires right now...
Can someone explain to me what 73W means at the end of a tire specification?
EDIT: These beads look like the right thing and I saw an install on youtube. Easy enough I guess right? I know Kickstand can weigh in on this right? Didn't you also use these Dan?

73 is the weight index. People run less in the rear because they heat up more since they have a larger contact patch.

Ive always been a proponent of starting on whatever you want. No l or p plates or **** like that.
The truth is that those gay laws probably save a few lives every year.
But i still dont think thats worth the liberties you give up.
You want to promote individual responsibility, not mandated government babysitting.
