Full week of workouts in the books. Woot! First time in at least a year.
Lat raises - 5x15x3
Front raises - 5x15x3
DB shoulder press - 12.5x10x3
Machine leg extension - 30x20x3
Seated leg curls (machine) - 30x15x3
Was also supposed to do leg press, but someone had JUST beat me to it. I left the kids home and they have spent the last few days fighting (no joke - last night ended up with them going to bed early after I screamed at them for 15 minutes. Even Mike, who typically doesn't get in trouble.), so I didn't want to wait around while my house was reduced to rubble. Did 10 minutes in the sauna. Also, all the bikes were taken, so no cardio. Next week I'll get there earlier. I didn't think a Sunday would be crowded at any time.

So, this week I'll be getting my diet in check. I have no desire/motivation to track calories at this point. And to be honest, my diet isn't that bad now that I am cooking for myself. Now that I'm being active again, I should be in decent shape. Still, going to look for ways to cut portions/calories a little at a time. Cut back my wine consumption to weekends only until summer.
That said, I took in major calories yesterday. My brother's birthday is St. Patrick's day, but we celebrated yesterday. Corned beef and birthday cake are NOT low in calories. But man, it was an awesome meal. This was my 3rd corned beef and cabbage meal this week. lol. I went with my parents to their country club for it last weekend, and we went out to a local pub on St. Patrick's day with just the adults (kids were with their dad) for that and Guinness. Yum!
I kinda like that creeper.
I felt pretty accomplished when I left yesterday. Hopefully it will carry over to this week. If I can string a few weeks together, I'll be set!https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Took a couple of weeks to do some labor intensive home projects (I'm not in good enough shape to do those and go to the gym) as I'm getting my downstairs hardwood floors refinished and these projects were better done before that. Went back to the gym today to see it would be closed from the 16th-24th for renovations. I wish I had known that and I could have planned better!
Hi cable chest press - 20x12x3
Med cable chest press - 20x10x3
Lo cable chest press - 15x10x3
Above weights are per handle.
Cable tri pressdown - 20x10x3
OH rope cable tri extension - 20x10x3
28 minutes on elliptical
Time to get rid of the no time excuse. I got nothing but time without TKD or a social life. My biggest time constraint now is getting Mike through black belt testing, and that will wrap up in the next few weeks. Then I'm free until football season!
Today is my sweet baby girl's birthday. Took her to day care with treats for all her friends and my brother and his dog are coming over tonight for a dog party. Here she is:

I'm actually doing pretty good. I had my floors refinished last week and left my journal where I couldn't get it, so I just winged it and didn't write anything down. Gym is currently closed until the end of the week for renovations, but I'll get back in this weekend. Now if I just could control the diet.....

Yoga - 90 minute class
I am so excited to be back at yoga. a) I need the relaxation, b) I need the stretching, and c) it is a sign that I am finally nearing recovery on the ankle. Namaste, peeps!
Bad news, I just discovered either they changed the dates the gym was closed, or I didn't recall them correctly. Gym doesn't open until Monday. I'll focus on cardio this week.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Yep. Gave it up in the divorce as part of the buy out on the house. It's actually not a big deal to miss this week, other than losing momentum. It's probably better for my body to spend a week easing back into a consistent cardio routine this week before trying to do the 2 together. Now that the ankle is feeling better, I can do some bodyweight stuff as well. I just didn't think I'd lose a whole week at the gym.

Tuesday
Yoga - 90 minute class
Wednesday
Wide grip pulldown - 55x8x3
Straight arm pressdown - 25x8x3
Seated cable row - 40x8x3
BB curl - 20x8x3
Cross body concentration curls - 12.5x8x3
Short and sweet. For one, I had to go after work and before doggie day care closed. For another, I didn't prepare and couldn't think of another back exercise that I could do with cables as any DB exercise requires getting them off the bottom of the rack. Still, it was work and I'm counting it!
Busy week this week! Mike has his final phase of black belt testing tonight. It will be the end of a year of testing between him and Kevin and I am looking forward to a little more free time! He also has a semi-formal dance on Friday, which I'm looking forward to getting pictures of. But of course he didn't tell me about it until a few days ago and he won't be with me until Friday. And he needs clothes. Which would be no big deal if he didn't have a 26" waist and a 34" inseam. For jeans I just buy the bigger waist and it scrunches up a little. But he shouldn't look sloppy for a dance. We ordered his girlfriend's corsage yesterday - pretty orchids! Since I miss out on dress shopping I need to enjoy the flower shopping. And Saturday his Venture Crew has a hike that I need to go on (they need a female leader on trips as well as a male). I'm a little nervous about the hike. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to do it, but I'm not sure I will be able to do it at the pace that the kids can do it.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

At least if you have to do boy shopping at the last minute, it tends to be easier than girl shopping at the last minute. Guys cloths are pretty much straight forward and similar.
Enjoy the hike, but don't be shy about letting the other adults know you may not be able to keep up a brisk pace due to your injury.Burning Fat Cells One Rep At A Time

Seated cable press - 30x8x3
Seated cable incline - 20x8x3
Seated cable decline - 30x8x3
Tri pushdown - 30x8x3
OH cable tri ext - 30x8x3
I did not like the seated cable work as much as standing, but since the gym is still under reno they only have one of the 2 cable stations I can do that work on out, and one of the sides isn't working so I had to go with what was available.
Phase IV black belt testing is over! Mike did awesome. It's really more of a mental test than a physical one. They whale on you and you just need to stick it out. I took videos of the sparring, but not the breaking (because I didn't think about video for the breaks and all my attempts at pics missed ). The first video is the round robin - 4 rounds. The first opponent Mike faced is one of the young instructors. I expected Mike to really go for him because he got a black eye the last time they sparred, but I think he was overhwhelmed with the speed he came after him. This sparring is unlike anything any of them have ever faced in class. The final opponent is a Masters level black belt (4th degree) and the owner's daughter. He hung tough!
The second video is 3 rounds of 2 on 1 sparring. Mike was in a tough position as he was near the equipment rack and kept getting himself pinned there. And yes, you can hear me yelling through both bouts of sparring.
That would be true if the boy in question wasn't a size 28x34. The smallest waist you can get in a 34" inseam is a 32 without ordering online, so the key is to get the slimmest fitting pant you can find. Not the mention he needs a large dress shirt to accommodate the length of his arms. I ended up at Express and did OK, but the waist is definitely way too big.
The other adults know about my injury, so they don't expect me to keep up. I just have to convince Kevin that he needs to stay back with me.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

The only time I feel pain is when my foot isn't on flat ground, but it's not a severe pain. It's mainly stiff and still swollen. The swelling has me a little concerned - I'm considering seeing a podiatrist.
Been in back to back to back meetings for days. Hopefully going to make the gym the next couple of days. Maybe 3 for legs, if I don't do another hike.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

*brushes the dust off*
So, I'm weighing in at where I was before I started back in 2007. I've reached the same point now as I did then where I don't recognize my face. That was what motivated me to stick with it then, so hopefully that will motivate me to stick with it now. Other than going to yoga or running the occasional errand, I don't really leave the house. Another thing that needs to change.
On the upside, my diet is pretty perfect. If you ignore that I am eating like I'm exercising when I'm not. I bought a share in a farm CSA and have been enjoying the fruits and vegetables each week.
Starting up with the 5/3/1 at baby weights. Intended to do squats today, but the squat racks were taken. I thought it was national bench day! But, no, benches were open so I did that.

Mike is at Boy Scout camp. I need to take Kevin to TKD, but hope to get out for a walk with him and the dog. I'm going to give running a shot and see how it goes with my ankle. Probably try that Wednesday.https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=17995794

Day 2 in the books. Today showed me that the programs I used to love are no longer doable. First squat pulled something in my hamstring, and my back protested. Tried back and front squats with same result. I've been out of the commercial gym scene too long to just jump in and do intuitive training. Going to have to search hard for workouts without squats or deads. I'll finish out the week as planned and give something else a go next week.
