kings and hawks are in their own tier.

bruins could have been in that tier if not for the boychuk trade, but now they're significantly worse, although still probably tops in the east.

the blues and sharks, regardless of how they've went out in the playoffs the last few years, are still a threat. they have teams that i could definitely see going on a long playoff run.

penguins are the wildcard. it all depends how they adjust to a new coach. with such a weak conference, you have to give them a chance with that talent; same thing every year.

if anyone else wins the cup outside of those 6 teams, i'd be surprised. anaheim has become overrated as fuk, as has tampa bay. despite stamkos coming back, i think tampa is primed for a setback with bishop coming back down to earth, not to mention i think their secondary scoring will take a hit with johnson/palat probably coming back down as well. last year was a rare year for random breakouts for the lightning; i'd have to think at least some of them will come back down to earth. then people think drouin will automatically come in and light the league on fire for some reason.

Agree with you mostly, I think that TB has enough talent to warrant them being a top team in the east, even with a regression from Bishop. Think they'll be ok if one of Johnson/Palat regress, but I doubt both will.

Nope. They're gonna let the season play out and see who falls into the rolls as a C or A and name them from there I guess.

I think with cap restrictions, teams that have a "committee" type scoring have much better chances then a "sink 1/5 of your salary cap into one guy" teams. Bs will probably have 5-6 20+ goal scorers again.

Kings don't really get lucky bounces, their system is just so well tuned that they turn almost all offensive opportunities into scoring chances and defensive 'bounces' I guess, into zone breakouts. They're just really, really good.

Kings forecheck and cycling is too suffocating for any team right now.. They have talent that adheres to a tight system and good positioning. Even in the defensive end they're players know to be tight checking and to not get out of position

Key to winning at the moment is to stick to the fundamentals which Sutter does perfectly and to have a GM that can build a cap compliant team that isn't zapped of talent.

Kings will repeat. I know everyone will say that's almost impossible in this era but they're gonna do it I have no doubt about it

as they all say, that stuff evens out over the course of a season, there's no reason to put any weight into "bounces"

I thought that in 2012, but chit happens. I don't think they will repeat, but I think there is a 50% chance they make it to the cup.

Pains me to say it, but now that the 'Yotes playoff hopes are just about non-existent the truth is coming out.

There's been a perfect storm brewing in LA for a while now. It's literally going to come down to Chi and LA in the WCF again and LA will prevail.

Only way this doesn't happen will be major injuries and with Quick you never know.
