31yo : too late to get ripped

A colleague of mine told me that hormones and metabolism at 30 are much lower than at 20 or before, so it's impossible to get a decent body if you begin now at 30.

I told him "There are also very well put together 40yo guys"

He replied "They already built their muscular structure at 18/20 and now they're only keeping it"

Anyone here who started at 30 and got a good result maybe like this

Does not matter how much structure was built at an early age. It all comes down to body fat percentage. He is clueless dumbass!

    No.

    No one.

If you're over 30, just go find a place to lie down, and wait to die; it's over, brah.
    No brain, no gain.

    You can't out-train bad nutrition.

I'm 31. just started really taking this seriously about 6 months ago and have gotten the usual major gains at the start. if I keep it up, 3 years from now I would be in really great shape and would be very strong and healthy. would I be absolutely shredded like a bodybuilder? of course not, and would never want to be either. just big, strong, healthy, lean. its never too late to start my friend. many cases of 40 year olds who transformed themselves on this site and others, just google it and you will see some examples.

I know people that started late 40s and are in fantastic shape. There's a member here, which I can't remember his name, but recall he started at 49 and ended up competing and winning many contests. So your colleague is talking out of his a$$

There is no hope for us old guys....

I got back in the gym after a layoff of 7 years to do things like running, cycling, hiking, and mountain biking. Now almost 2 years back in the gym, I am stronger and have a better physique than when I was 18-20 yrs old.

    I turn 44 in 9 days.

    Person A: 30 y/o newbie.
    Person B: 30 y/o and been training since they were 20 y/o.

The biggest difference between A and B is that B has 10 years experience of knowing what does and doesn't work for them.
Screw nature; my body will do what I DAMN WELL tell it to do!

The only dangerous thing about an exercise is the person doing it.

They had the technology to rebuild me. They made me better, stronger, faster......

Hey bud. That's me in this photo. I just started this June and I turned 34 last week.

Not for me, I started at 36. I was a slob, big beer gut and all. Stopped drinking beer and started running and lifting 2-3 times a week. Went from 285 to swole 245 in 5 years.
    I love eggs.

I'd have to agree with your friend. The ov35 is more about reminiscing about the old days.

I used to put a time frame on how I wanted to look X number of years down the road, but in reality once you asses yourself a year later, you're ready for a new goal. Took longer than I thought it would for what I would consider mid-level gains:
